o man there is this vid from the vast awards and this guy goes to i dont even know some desert and like skis on the sand dunes and stuff then he goes like scuba diving with skis on its pretty sick its called estination changed i think. so to answer your question...yes
i go a couple of times each summer in upper MI, it can be fun. I found an area where u can can jib an old phone pole, ski about 400' vert and drop a clay cliff from 6 to 20 feet and pond skim into lake superior. You need to find some pretty steep dunes to keep your speed. The sand and rocks do kick your bindings and bases ass and sand gets everywhere.
so im thinking of hitting the idaho sand dunes (think napolean dynamite) this summer. i assume its best to not have any wax on your skis? or is there a certain kind of wax that is good for sand? im pretty stoked about this. any tips?
the biggest dune on the east coast is in my state and its about 200 vert and is pretty steep. they have sandboarding and skiing availible with a permit but only from like november-april or march and thats when the mountains in NC are open so it kind of defeats the purpose. its really more of a hang gliding haven. my family used to hang glide and sky dive alot
