I wouldnt call this stuff 'true techno', but i like it anyways.. stuff like BT, Moby, Crystal Method, the X-Ecutioners.. stuff like that..it has its place.

Paul van Dyk, Paul Oakenfold, DJ Tiesto, John Digweed... all great.
Then there is Radio1 on the bbc (http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/audiovideo/ ) check out the first category. There are some great mixes on there. Also search Kazaa for Essential Selection and Ibiza mixes. 'Paul van Dyk - Ibiza' is the best 25 minutes of electronic music ever heard.

Im more into the trance side of things although lately ive been listening to more punk and emo and such. I like stuff like Holymen, Astral Projection etc. although normal techno is quite good. PaulVanDyke is good shit. so relaxing.

For some good non-trance stuff:
Any Fatboy Slim mix (essential selection, live on Brighton beach, big beach boutique II (DVD, not the CD), or many other bootlegs)
Tall Paul mixes (mixed live 1 & 2, Club Nation America)
Any Essential Mix (including artists such as, DJ Icey, DJ Scribble, Pete Tong, Boy George (yes he is a good DJ), Grand Master Flash, and others)
Really any Global Underground CD will be good
The Mixed Live series is also good
The Tranceport series is good trance

I find it better to listem to mixes than to get the 'albums'. Mixes just have more to them.

I strongly suggest the Big Beach Boutique II DVD from Fatboy Slim. There were ~250000 people on the beach for his set. It look nuts.

you guys listen to the most gayest mainstream 'techno' ever--none of you even know that techno does not encompass the entire spectrum of music that is produced electronically.
paul gay dyk, paul oakensuck, and dj pee-esto are (worthless) trance, moby and fatboy are mainstream, and aphrodite is drum&bass (he doesn't suck). I'm sorry I just can't stand it when people call every single kind of electronic music techno. If you want (good) music that is truly 'techno,' listen to Richie Hawtin (aka plastikman) and John Aquaviva. If you want good jungle/drum&bass, listen to Dj Dara, Dieselboy, or Ak1200. (There are many others and these are the three most popular but they are the three with the easiest to find music.) If you want good House music, listen to hipp-E and halo or onionz. If you want good trance, listen to.....listen to......oh yeah all trance is gay and for stupid noodles who still take ecstasy and wear candy bracelets and smell like vick vaporub

i didnt mean to sound like a dick--it probly just came out that way cuz its 4/20 and i haven't puffed for two weeks cuz i have to take a pee test for a job. i just don't like it when everyone labels different kinds of music under one name because they don't know any better. you wouldn't call snowboarding, snowlerblading, snowskating, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, tubing, and everything else skiing just because they're all done on snow would you?
