Soreness in legs, getting rid of

A couple of days ago I did some exercising, but I overdid one exercise. Now the past two days both my thighs have been really sore. I think they should be better by Sunday, but I want to go skiing on Saturday, too. Does anyone know of a way help my legs recuperate quickly?

If you've overstretched then you've probably slightly torn a muscle. Nothing bad about it coz that's what muscles do when you exercise them, they get a little damaged and then repair themselves bigger and stronger afterwards. Sometimes if you tweak it or pull it a bit it just pulls or tears a bit too much. If they are super sore then that is what has happened. Just lax out for a bit aye, don't do too much but keep stretching but don't stretch as long or hard as you usually would. Give it a couple days and it should be fine.

When i have sore muscles i usually eat a bunch of bananas...the potassium in them really helps. Mind you a chiropractor told me i was crazy....but whenever i eat like 3 or 4 banans then go to bed, i wake up with no soreness at all. It works for me.

My knee is good and sore right, I went skiing today, and attempted a new trick with every jump, bailed everytime, but now i know i'll be able to do them soon enough. The video is sweet...it's basically a slam section.

yea potassium is really good and drink alot of water and keep hydrayted. Also make sure you stretch before you go

that will take some of the pain away and thin the blood but will do nothing to repair muscle damage.

I usually work out 3 times a week, Mon. Wed. and Fri, but with skiing starting I'm skipping Friday and just going on thursday instead. Give yourself some time to rest.

I mentioned above that my knee was pretty sore. After poking around on it and looking on the net, i think i might have slightly damaged my medial meniscus. That's the part of my knee that hurts, and since the medial meniscus is one of the parts of the knee that distributes the load from you're thigh to you shin, it would explain why it HURTS to land even the smallest of jumps now. I don't think it's REALLY serious...just pretty sore right now. Anyone know any good ways to treat this?

best thing for knees is massaging and heat, then light stretching once your knee has healed a bit. I've had buritis (burst fluid sacks in the knee) three times and that is what I did to reduce swelling and speed up the healing process. IBU Profen is also excellent to reduce inflamation. Every doctor I have spoken to has recommended it.

As for working out, if you are sore, take a hot bath and get/do a massage or the sore areas. this helps increase blood flow. Eating bananas and protein is also good because it helps the muscles recover. If I remember correctly, potassium is consumed in muscle cell contraction so bananas are a good way to replenish that. Also take some calcium as it is the main ion in muscle contraction and when it is all consumed, mucles charlie horse.

Do some light stretching of the sore muscles to prevent them from healing tighter than they were originally. Nothing extreme though, you don't want to pull them while they are weak.

Hahah sucks dude. I am pretty sure you can get pottasium supplements though. Just look into it and I am sure you will find somewhere that sells them.

The soreness is practically gone now, so I won't need to look around for potassium. I think what helped was the walking and jogging I did yesterday.

Jibs.. i full out tore my minscus 3 seasons ago. And have had surgery on it once and I'm being sent back to see a surgeon. If it keeps swelling and bruising heat the muscles around it but apply ice straight to your knee. Those things never heal. If you do get concerned cause its affecting how you ski go see a physio or a doctor. Although I've found many GP's have no clue about knees and simply refer you to someone. Ibprofin helps relaxe muscles and tame swelling it won't do anything for pain really. But many times the pain is caused by a muscle spasm or knot and it helps relaxe the muscle. One of the best things to help stiff sore muscles is keep them warm (dont go running outside in your boxers) and gentle streching always to help loosen them up. But I'm off to physio and then the gym. Speaking of the gym. Make sure that the program you are on is one that matches with skiing because I don't really think that anyone wants to spend all summer in the gym and then find out that they worked on developing the wrong muscles. Hopefully this will help!

dont do shat just sit around and sleep thats what i usually do to get rid of sorness
even if i am really sore i go skiing and i dont feel it while i ski cause your paying to much attention to what your doing!

put some heating cream on it and cover it with a rag and hold it there for a while. it works with my back.

do non leg exercises, you need to get your blood flowing to rid yourself of all the lactic acid build up, but if you do the same activity you did to make them sore then you'll just wear them down further. like if your legs are sore from running, do some easy light bike riding... or something like that, ya know?

not really for losing soreness in legs, but running helps alot for other parts or ur body. eat more protein, maybe take some anti inflammatory

How much do you weigh?, how often do you work out, if you work out hard maybe get a 100% whey isolate shake for after the gym, it really helps me recover quicker. Increase your lean protein, ww carbs, lots of tuna, chicken, and turkey. FIBRE
