Lake Louise Lifts Stop - Was Anyone There?
i was on Top of the World (i think its called) last season when it stopped for 45 minutes on one of the coldest days of the year in the middle of feb. all we scored was a 5 dollar voucher for the restaurants down bottom. was bullshit. but i remeber how that gondola used to break down every day for long periods of time. its a fuckin dud i tell ya
damn! that really sucks for the people...atleast the ski patrollers knew what they were doing
i was skiing last year on a powder day on the east coast lift stopped for an hour and a half. it was a blessing in disgue. At first you were pissed. All of the day trippers left the mountain was empty freshys all day. then you could get a freeticket if you prove you were there that day.
that sucks, that would be pretty terrifying
One of the chairs at my mountain stopped yesterday right before close, and me and my bud both had to do shit (I had to work my other job in 30 mins and he had to go to dinner with his gf) so we jumped, and the lift recocnized me cuz i worlk there an she ratted me out, so now Iam prob gonna get fired, and have to buy a membership
i read about that last night on cbc.ca. that's one hell of a long time for a lift to stop. i've been stuck on a chair for about an hour and 45 min but damn that's gotta suck!
anyone know if the resort compensated the people stuck on the lift?
lolol dude it was crazy, i was on the way down when that shit happened
when did they get a gondola?
they bought a gondola from I think squaw valley last year, so it's an old piece of shit. Classic RCR, probably tried to give people 2 for 1 food coupons to compensate.
at least it was a gondola so they were out of the wind a little.
the one doctor was being a little bitch
jeez thayt would suck major, ive only been stopped 15 minutes max
wow at big white we got stuck on the cliff chair for like 30 minutes and got a free day pass
last year i got stuck on chair 12 (i think) at telluride for about an hour in a big blizzard. we found out that an avalanche took out the main power line into town. all the lifts had backup diesel motors but the one on our lift wouldnt start. so we all got free hot cocoa at the top and free lift passes. i was leaving the next day so i sold my pass for 50 bucks to someone.
^thats a pretty sweet deal.. ne1 find out if the poel stuck on the lift got nething yet?
i was there when it stopped but luckly wasent on. some of the people i know where up on it. the where pisssed!!!
rcr is sooo shitty when it comes to apologizing. "Oh you poor thing, I hope these expired lunch coupons will cure your frostbite" I hate rcr with a burning passion.
a kid at my school says he was on one and it sucked ass and that he got laid by some chikc in the gondola, i dont fuckin believe it but w/e
well it wouldn't sick ass if he got laid...unless it was his mom or sister
i got stuck for an hour once it was fucking windy and raining and shit one of the worst days of the season and we got nothing.. if i wasnt 20m off the ground i wold hav jumped
good thing it was in a gondola. if not there would have been serious frostbite going on.
I talked to some people that were down in MT for the weekend from LL. I guess the picked the right weekend to vacation.
its not that bad the only reason its such a big deal is that all the news media people were there that day for world cup. i was about to get on it though before it broke down. and most of the people who are bitching about frostbite are pretty much pussies because its a gondola and there is no wind and it wasnt cold that day at all.
I had the Challenger lift at Big Sky get stopped for a lift tower problem this weekend. It wasn't for a long time, but I was 5 chairs down from the top and the suspense was KILLING ME! And for those of you who have skied Big Sky, you know that the last 200 yards of that lift are an absolute hell to go through when the lift is going, I ended up getting a little frostbite on my nose, nothing bad though. It seems like the only time I've been on lifts that have broken down it's been at the resorts that charge a ton of money to ski, the little local hills never seem to have those problems.
