obviously the 04 pistols are the cheapest, and vicious are more expensive. IS there any significant difference between how each ski perfoms, i know they kinda remodeled the pistol into the vicious. the 04 pistols caught my attention.

04 and 05 pistols are very similar. Same dimensions, but the 05s have a stiffer tails.
06 vicious is a new ski. stiffer still, fatter in the waist, and with a progressive sidecut.

being as soft as they are and the 04's were the softest you want a bigger size.

The 05's have a sicker graphic than the 04 pistols with the uk flag base and they are cheaper than the vicious so id go with that

which pow ski is the best for BC booters, landing switch in pow, and maybe a few steep lines?

Made'n probably fits that description best. Close behind would be the Vicious, JP vs. Julian, Gotama, ANT.

If you can find a pair of 04s cheap in good/new condition, go for it.

both the pistols are pretty much the same ski with small diffrences. the vicious though is a diffrent ski really. they made it wider, and the tips and tails and blunt. supposedly this makes them float better. dont really know about the flex though.

i really want a pair of 159 05 pistols but thats just me. like everyone said here, the 04 and 05 pistols are very similar, the 05 pistols have a bit stiffer tail. the 06 vicious is a completely different ski with a progressive sidecut, wider underfoot, and more of a shovel tip and tail. a lot of K2 athletes prefer the 04 pistol over the 05 pistol but i definitely think the vicious is the best ski out of the three.

i dunno why they prefer the 04's versus the 05's but that is just why. maybe because of the softer tail? thats just the information i was told. and yes, they made a 159 and it was grey but there weren't many made so thats why most people haven't seen em.

all of the vicious or pistol skis are really really soft and the reason people like them is because they make bad skiers look good because they are so forgiving and people like the graphics, its all personal preferance though, I personnally prefer burly stiff skis that can eat crud up and are super stable, ie. the gotama, scratch bc, and the new b-squad are all sick skis

05 pistols are a bit stiffer than 04, an improvement in my opinion. Vicious are different altogether, stiffer and with a different sidecut. Not as carvy, easier to skid, they do not pull you into a turn as much. I much prefer the vicious to the pistol, better for steeps because they do not lock you into a turn.

One, how can you put scratch bcs and b squads in the same sentence? one is super burly pure freeride ski, the other is a versatile all mountain twin that candide and andreas use for urban rails!
Two, sorry to burst your bubble, but seths are stiffer than scratch bc wrs. there you go, i've said it...

I love the 04 pistols. I don't know, maybe it's the graphics, or something else. But Im looking for a pair of 04's 05's or any other wide skis around 180, preferrable cheap and used. I'll take beat to shit skis too as long as they are skiable and have edges.

Wow man, first of all you are full of shit, every post i have made you have been a dickhead about, the bc is alot stiffer than the pistol, the b squad is a burly ski, have you skied it? Last years BC was a pretty stiff ski, and killed it back country and in the deeper snow and crud, third, (who the fuck are you?) you live in london, so dont even talk to me about skiing, when you ski real big mountains and gnarly ass lines on these skis then just shut up

Obviously a skiers skill level is directly related to his post count. Its science. So the question really is, who the fuck are you?

Haha!! You've been drinking too many fizzy drinks man, you're getting pretty worked up!
1] I'm not being a dickhead, I'm correcting you so the guy who made the thread can make an informed decision based upon accurate information.
2] I never said the Pistol was stiffer than the scratch BC, I said the Seth was stiffer than the Scratch BC WRS, which it is.
3] Yes I have skied the B-squad, but frankly why you are talking about it in a thread about pistols and vicious, is quite beyond me. Your ravings are irrelevant to the guy's inquiry.
4] I'm not arguing about the scratch bc being a good ski. Its a superbly versatile all mountain twin. Of course it is, its designed by the best skier in the world.
5] Please please don't make baseless assumptions about my level, experience and knowledge of skiing, simply because you saw on my profile that I live in London. For your information, I've skied almost every day of the past 7 seasons in some of the best big-mountain resorts in the world, by which I mean Val d'Isere/Tignes, Engelberg, Verbier, Chamonix, La Grave, Zermatt etc etc. All of which are resorts that frankly make Alta, Brighton, Solitude etc. look like a pre-pubescent female's mammary glands.
6] I hope you are satisfied that my identity is one that is sufficiently qualified to contribute to this thread.
