Hey

Is there anyone who would like to , with great intrest and commitment, help us. Please don't put any posts like " what's that crap " and " that sucks " Let's focus on the problem

the thing is we have organized many big ari comps with our people, but we have a problem with judgeing. there's noone who would no how to judge and so on. what would be a reosneble solution?

we thought about a table ( all the tricks written down , what points they give and so on ) , mby this could help or what you think?

dont do a table, thats to strick, i could throw a shity 5 and do better than a kid who throws a real smooth steezed out 3. One why could be like at the masters, everyone judges the competitors but themselves, so if there were 10 guys, i would give the 9 guys scores, and the all the people i scored score me, and so on

judges don't know how to judge becausethey don't have the expirences and knowledge, all skiers take apart of the comps so we can't use them and they do not see all the others jumps to judge each other...In the tabel there would be minimum points for each trick and style, air and so on would give extra points..what you think?

we did it like that

1. point: trick level (1 to 10)

a 9 is more worth than a 7 and so on.

2. point: style (1 to 10)

its tough to judge, but get some skiers as judges it works

3. point: landing (1 to 10)

it cant be that someone just spins 1080 or so and just eats shvt at the landing and still wins the comp, that point kills all the huckers.

but the most important thing is to get a idea whats the trick level. a 10 isnt a switch 9 blunt or so like tanner pulls em, a 10 is the best trick of all competitors, most stylie of all and landed the safest way.

There is a our table - http://www.shec.ee/1tabel.jpg - :D it´s not a perfect.. what changes You suggest to us...

Fakie 360 = 45 points + extra points for style, grab.. = Good fakie 36 for example = 70 points
Fakie 540 = 55 points + extra points for style, grab.. = Bad fakie 54 for example = 60 points.
The nice 36 is can better than bad 54 and so on.. ?!!!

?!?! I do nice 360 - I get good landing (8) and style (8)points, but bad trick level (2) points. = 18 points

No! Be judgemental! You don't reward anyone for a super huge motionless tweaked out zero or 1, but if someone hucks a 10 with a saftey you reward them! No! Be judgemental with it and go on what was sicker, not "bigger"

for the most part do the judging based on some specified format that the riders are aware of. do the event, then get the judges results together and compare the numbers - the judges should also make a list of the top 5 or whatever in and order on their own aside from the numbers. combine - discuss.. fight and then post results... but that way nobody knows the scores till the end..

in order for any contest to be valid there needs to be define OBJECTIVE criteria for judges...

or you just let the riders judge themselves or throw the money in a huge cage and have the atletes fight it out for the prize

Dude just let the people decide, you know the fellow skiers. How they react and let the majority have who advances and who does not. And if it seems like one skier has a lot of friends while others do not, throw in a little bit of your own insentive on making the decision.

Either the person calls it before he does it, or you could have that information written down when they sign up for the comp.

Freestyle - I say screw all the technical stuff, natty this and that... give all the spectators a scorecard and let them vote. Freestyle should be a crowd pleaser first, if you want technical merit then join the US OLYMPIC GYMNASTICS TEAM

i completly disagree then you have people like my mom that love bio 12 no grabs also left side right side should count cause one way is harder to spin than the ther (for most) i think copms should be judged by the competitors aas long asd they stay honest

mm i would have like coaches from your mountain ... like 5 guys that know there shit and each one judging sometihng else like one on steez, one on difficult ect

the best way is to just let the riders judge. The competitors will be watching every hit so you don't need to worry about that, and they're by far the best judges as long as they're being objective - which can be a problem (i.e. the 2005 Orage Masters).

u all have a good point, but the problem still remains.

If we are talking about a big air comp. then the riders cannot see the landing of the guys jumping before them. So the riders judged wont work.

I see riders judgeing themselves only in competitions like whole day slopestyle jam or something like that. where the best rider is choosed by the style and image that he created not by the certain jump or rail-slide. After a jam riders mostly know who is the best and can be woted without the help of judges.

So how to vote in the big air comp. It may seem impossible to u but we dont have any people who know enough of skiing to be judges exept the ones who want to compete. So we have to pick the judges and then teach them to juge based on some format. Like so far my favorite. 3*10
point system,( trick, style, landing)

So my question is. How do judges judge in ur competitons. How are the points layed down. How is it done in the x-games.

if i rotate to left at all the tricks i usually do. but the only way i can do a underflip (backflip 180) is to right. is it then unnatural to me ????

yes, it is.. if you spin left most of all the time, and do one trick to the right, it is still the unnatural rotation that makes the name, not wether you are more comfortable with it... like if a skater can do better switch kickflips than regular... it doesn't change that fact that its switch.

Same thing with me and Misty's... To be honest I really don't know how that is judged. Maybe with tricks like that, they don't bother with natural and unnatural because it is only at the AM level... But once again I could be totally wrong here.

I DONT KNOW WHY EVERY COMP ISNT LIKE THIS. SKIERS SKI, SKIERS DECIDE. JUST LIKE ORAGE MASTERS... let the skiers decide who wins, they are the ones focusing on style and shit. I'm pissed about this dilema too. and to keep the shitty skiers from ruining the polls, only finalists judge other finalist. and ya cant vote for urself and u gotta choose like 3 people or something

Neither can the judges... And if they can then have the skiers stand by the judges, also announcements wouldn't hurt either if they cannot see the action.
