i recently bought a 2000 eclipse gt(fwd) . its fast and fun but i only have my permit and can only drive it with my dad. i dont get my license till march(bullshit colorado law) and if i sold it i could get 12,500 easy. i would get a job over the winter and get 4 or 5 k and buy a better car like a wrx when i get my license this spring . what do ya think?

Seriously thouhg, you plan on going to college, get like a '95 4wd truck or some shit, save yourself 10g's for like gas, college, spending money, a $15,000 car is not a good investment for a 16 year old kid who will prolly jsut scratch the fuck out of it by doing stupid shit and depreciate the value to like 5,000.

A car is the worst investment you could make. What you should do is buy a used car for 5 grand (which is still a fucking lot for a first car) and put the rest away in the bank for college. This is so you don't have to work for shit, you can actually enjoy yourself before you go off to college.

^^ about the civic, and to the guy who called me a dipshit i got the car when i had a permit because the money was in a savings account i had for shattering my arm when i was 6 at a daycare. if you had 15k and just got access to it when you turned 16, are you telling me you wouldnt go buy a nice car with it?you would wait for a year until you got a license and THEN buy a car? yeah right

i got a nice car because i could. embrey riddle is an aeronautical college. im joining the air force so it will be mostly payed for.your right though i should of used the 15k that i got from breaking my arm in 11 places )after falling out of a tree while i was 6, at a daycare) for gas for my 3,000 civic. it would take at least 5 years to spend 12k on gas for a civic

No you made a bad decision and here's why.

If you wanted an eclipse, which is stupid to get, you should have waited until you could drive. That way you'd have a newer car.

Obviously your parents aren't going to be giving you a ton of spending money in college. You could have gotten a cheap used car (I myself drive 96 rav4 and it does me fine) and never had to work during college.

Or better yet, you could invest the money. Buy stocks or bonds, get a bomb setup to grow weed, start a small company. But you don't need a good car as a kid.

To be honest though, you were a complete idiot. You have 15K accessible on your 16th birthday and on that very same day you go and buy a car without your permit? Not smart. The only logical thing to do now is sell the car, go to a bank and get a nice interest rate when you deposit the money (I wouldn't suggest stock at 16). When you go to college, buy a car. Use the interest and the money to live through college (gas, going out, etc.), which leaves you a comfortable way of living with money left bulding up for your first house or big spending. If you buy a wrx... When you'll find yourself eating Kraft dinner three times a day in college you'll curse your stupidity.
