Recording in the studio

So my band is going in to record a little demo next weekend, and i was wondering if anyone else has done it before. i'm excited for it just because i want to be a music producer in the later years, but i wanted to know if anyone else has done it before.

ya my band has done it, its kinda weird you do the percussion, the vocals, and the instrumentals all at seperate times

I guess that's weird at first. I've been recording with bands and doin my drums seperately for a few years now, so you get used to it.

yea hopefully it'll turn out good because we're friends with Alien Ant Farm and the drummer Mike wants us to send him a copy because he's a producer on the side

Make sure your drums are tuned.
Make sure you have extra strings/picks, etc...
Know your shit.

Studio time is pricey and so much of that time goes out the window when you have to tune drums and change guitar strings, etc....

If you have plans to be involved in the industry then I suggest picking the engineer's brain as much as possible. No better way to learn. Pay attention to everything. And most of all have fun with it dude!!!!
