it was on yahoo too. i wouldn't jump to the conclusion that its a mental hospital. from what i gathered, its unclear as to whether this is psychological, emotional or drug related.

NEW YORK (AP) -- Dave Chappelle is under pressure, according to a Newsweek report.

The star of Comedy Central's popular "Chappelle's Show" is exhausted due to tension, partying and creative differences with the cable channel, causing the recent halt in the show's production, the report said, citing unnamed friends and sources.

Neither Comedy Central publicist Tony Fox nor Chappelle's spokesman, Matt Labov, has discussed what caused the halt in production or how long it will last. The third season was set to premiere May 31.

"All parties are optimistic that production will resume in the near future," Comedy Central said in a statement issued Wednesday.

The Newsweek report claims Chappelle wants to delve into more controversial racial issues, unsettling Comedy Central executives, but Comedy Central and an employee in Chappelle's camp said last week the delay "is not a network issue."

Last summer, Comedy Central signed Chappelle to a deal reportedly worth $50 million for a third and fourth season of his popular sketch-comedy series.

The two-year agreement also allowed Chappelle to develop other programming for the cable channel and cut him in on DVD sales, a lucrative factor considering his series' first-season DVD sold more than 2 million copies.

Last season the show was nominated for three Emmys, including outstanding comedy series.

Comedy Central star Dave Chappelle has checked himself into a mental health facility in South Africa, the magazine Entertainment Weekly reported on Wednesday

The comedian's whereabouts and condition have been unknown since Comedy Central abruptly announced last week that the planned May 31 launch of the third season of Chappelle's Show had been postponed and production halted.

Entertainment Weekly said it had corroborating sources for its story.


so let me get this straight the company paying dave chappelle $50 millioon for season 3 & 4 has no idea where he is, but Entertainment Weekley does. and wont tell its sources.

he is thought to be missing and "no one" knows wherre he is. People believe he has been under tons of stress after he signed a 50 million dollar contract.
That is just sort of a rumor or idea that he is in a mental hospital in south africa. Problems and conflicts haven been going on scence novermber.The 3rd season was supposed to air in feb but it kept getting posponed and now it is "indeffinatley haulted". It was not drug related
