Parents and Trampolines

Hey my parents are all uptight about me getting a trampoline becuase they are all like 'my dad was a brainsurgeon and he operated on too many people who fell off them.'

So..what can I do or say to make them think I'll be safe?

My Mom works in the operating room and for the longest time she wouldn't let me get a trampoline because she thought I'd hurt myself on it. Then she saw me in the terrain park doing inverts and decided it would be a good idea to let me practice on a tramp before I take it to snow.

my dad hucks with me... he taught me how to do most of my tricks.. but don't get a net they're very restricting, just tell your parents if you don't have a trampoline you'll just huck off your shed or something

ya same here my dad used to be on the salomon freestyle team back in the day of the 70's. he used to do double fronts and he even saw eddie lincoln throw the first lincoln loop. he told me one time he won a contest throwing a layed out back and then a 180 daffy 180 stalled out and shit. all he got was an igloo ice chest, a 6 pack of beer and 15 bucks

actualy most deaths and neck breaks are when they land back on the tramp... not fall off. my parents are insurance agents and they have had to pay like 3 or 4 claims of people breaking their neck, all landing on the tramp. One guy is a friend of my dad. he is parilized from the waist down now... that why i didn't get a tramp, i just went to friends or to a gym...

yea i had a dumbass friend who cant do much on tramps try a back on one with a net, he caught his feet on it and landed on his head, total dumbass. dont get the net just learn how to roll when u hit the ground.

yeah buy your own. you can get a big one for like 150 at the end of summer. nother thing. take it down over winter. ass much fun as it is to jump on a snoow covered tramp, it really stretches the springs, and it isn't as bouncy. and, if ya wanta learn stuff, i have one and am pretty good at teachin people stuff. come over sometime.

just do what i did.. dig a pit about 3 or 4 feet deep the same size of the tramp, and then put it in there... that way if you land off it's not like you're falling at all cause the ground is at the same level as the tramp.

Although it doesn't seem like a big pit, it is pretty damn big. Volume for a cylinder:

V=3.14159*r^2*h

14 foot tramp=7 ft radius

height=4 ft

V=3.14159*49*4

V=615.75 feet

I think my math is right but thats a lot of dirt!

its a pretty big pit, and I know my parents wouldn't want me to be digging a tramp sized hole int the yard. and what happens when it rains? it just sorta caves in. what do you do then?

that hole idea is awsome, you could practice backflips on to it cos it doesn't hurt to land on a tramp! I'm gonna dig one for mine next summer!

it could double as a pool when it rains.. the only downside i see is haveing a big hole in your backyrad in the winter..

landing on ur head still hurts on anything, but u dont have to nesicarily take ur tramp down in the winter. i leave it up and just shovel it off when i feel like it. its hella bouncy now do to the hundreds of pounds of snow that have been piled on it.

ya i use to use a trampoline that was level with the ground it was in some shop in the village at tremblant i forget what its called.

I broke my leg on a trampoline, and my parents sold it less than a week after it happened, but I still bounce on friends tramps sometimes. Now I am better on the trampoline than I was back then. But I also landed right on the bouncy part just doing a frontflip, so you can get hurt on one at anytime I guess.

i got dared to do a one footed backflip one time, kid called it the kiss of death or somthin stupid. i landed on my head got back up and tryed it again. more good times

I think the best way to stay safe is to not be a fucking idiot.

There's plenty of safe ways to learn new stuff.

Plus, jump with your friends spotting you around the tramp so that you don't fall off.

And when you try a flip for the first time get someone to spot you.

Why is it not cool to be slightly safe anymore?

go read my post early the pit is worthless almost all serious acidents happen landing back on the tramp. any ways another 3 to 4 feet isn't going to matter when you land
