After briefly skimming Powder Mags excuse as to why they would not be holding Superpark this year, it suddenly hit me. What is it about 'newschool' skiing that creates a lack of interest? For whatever reasons, Freeze is no longer here, Powder gives three or five pages a year, Freeskier is simply Freeskier, and that's it....No SuperPark, no Parkasaurus...Do you hear Snowboarding saying..."Oh, sorry, we can't find a park ANYWHERE to build us some jumps and put up some progressive rails??" No..you don't hear such bullshit...WHY?? I just don't know..
Therefore, do you think newschool skiing will ever gain the support it deserves? I hope so...Perhaps a better question: Are we still in the initial stages of develpoment?? Will new magazines and new corporations, yes corporations, support our industry? If so, who? and when? Don't we need more support, more interest, from the status quo if we are to survive?

Couldn't some talking be done and have ski superpark combined with board superpark?
Wouldn't that actually be the most true form? Skiers and boarders riding in harmony, throwin down and everyone puttin out the vibe.

people need to remember that companies will only sponsor sport A (newschool) if it is worth their while and if they are going to recieve more money than if they were to sponsor sport B (e.g. snowboarding/ ski racing)
newschool skiing needs to become more public and recognised before is gets MAJOR sponsors like other established winter sports does.
the question then is, how does it become established without sponsors which create much of the publicity in the first place through advertising etc?????

If you read down into the comments you see why it wasnt held at mammoth. they wanted to, that who they were in talks with the longest. however, creating a massive park like superpark takes lots of money, and all of mammoths money is tied up in the Orage Masters. so there you go.

i doubt we'll be a dying sport. 60,000 NS member and more kids around my school are getting into it. i dont know how snowboarding did it, get into the complete mainstream, but if anyone knows how they did it, tell us.
