Wake Up Park Skis Dont Carve!!!

People need to stop asking what park ski to carve because if you are serious about park riding your edges are so gone from jibing that the ski doesnt matter.
Get 2 pairs or just ask whats the best skiing twintip ski.
Sorry for the rant just once in a while something bugs you enough you must rant.

def need to pairs, this year i was skiing on no edges, and went on vacation to a very large icy mountain, it didnt work out well for actual skiing i had to borrow my gfs dads atomics which i thought skied like shit too, but that could be because they were old

park doesnt mean rails. and you only need good edges to carve on icy hardpack. in the spring time you can carve on skis with broken edges. this guy probably doesnt plan on destroying his skis on rails, just wants a twin tip to ski backwards with and to hit jumps and the half pipe.
just because you felt like ranting doesnt mean youre not an idiot.

if you know how to ski then you can carve a 2x4...my detuned PEs lay rails down any slope....its about the operator not the ski...if you cant carve you SUCK and you dont know how to ski

my point exactly. it does help to have a shaped ski and edge that doesnt catch because of all its spyder cracks. and carving slopes where you can see the dirt underneath a sheet of ice on the east, like maine for example, is pretty difficult on any ski...i was scared on perfectly tune race skis.

its hard to ski on a ski with absolutely no edges, and base falling out of the tail of ur ski, i would love to see u try to carve on my troublemakers on ice

i slay rails all the time and yet still have the ability to carve like a muthafucker. if you actually know how to ski, you can carve ANYTHING. dunno what yer talkin about....

the 2x4 thing is a little extreme cause you do need some kinda edge but it is mostly operator. you could prob ski a 2x6 in pow....... I think ill try that

my PE's have NO edge under the foot, too many single round bar slide (kill the edge). And they CARVE, carving is based on angles and form, not equipment....
my new skis are a pair of flat mounted K2 outlaws, metal mainate twin tip. I was at Mammoth yesterday on them, bombing runs switch, it was so sweet to have a REAL ski that has a turned up tail...makes you realize how much park skis suck!

You obviously dont like in the east where the snow melts during the day and freezes during the night. I find that sharpening my edged every so often does the trick. My edges are really dull and when im going down steep ice its really hard to deal with. Most of the time my skis do well with dull edges tho. Just doesnt bite as much.

actually they do. I dont know if you jib on every inch of you edges, i dont. the ends that are still sharp have much more of an impact in how you turn... you could always sharpen them too.

Yes definetly Park skis carve & very well what do you think you do in the pipe, on a ice wall it's nice to have a good edge, In groomed snow even the shitiest of edges your ski will carve like a mo fucker, Just a little scetchy on ice if you do rails, The best is a pair of rail skis & a pair of pipe, Carving skis,

yeah, park skis will carve, any skis will carve. but what some of you are saying is retarded. if you have dull edges, you wont be able to hold up on sheer ice. besides, its not just edge sharpness, its lateral and tip-tail stiffness.
if you ever ski a few runs on your park skis, then go on some high performance carvers or race skis, you'll be blown away with the difference.

whenever i notice my edges arent holding in the snow i just carve switch, cuz i always have the skis on the same foot, so the edges going switch are still dandy

Since I don't ape rails my edges are nicely rounded over just under the boot on my stl's and the rest of the edge is nicely tuned. They carve awesome, and since I've never ridden anything but twins I guess don't know the difference.
I dont know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

actually, your edge under foot puts the most force into your turn. don't get me wrong, the tip and tail help, but being that your edge under foot is stationary to your boot, and the tips and tail flex, of course most of the power comes from under foot. that is why it is almost COMPLETELY NECESSARY to wear the skis on opposite feet for park riding and carving. when you slide rails you dull your inside edge a lot more than your outside edge, and that's no good because if you understand the physics of skiing at all then you know that when you carve a turn the majority of your force comes from the inside edge of your downhill ski. so if you wear your skis on the same feet everyday in the park, your outside edges are gonna be waaaay sharper, so if you swtich the skis for carving, it will be your INSIDE edge that is sharper.
and of course a park ski WILL NOT carve as good as an all-mountain or racing ski, but you can still lay down some tracks if you know what you're doing...
sorry for the rant, enjoy your day

park skis can hold a great edge, but that all depends on the rider. the only thing a true carving ski does is make the turn easier to initiate and hold better, but it's not impossible at all to carve a park ski

actaully you should be able to carve with a ski detuned underfoot considering you initiate your turns with the edges near the front of the ski.

AAAHHHHHH i hate people,
OF COURSE park skis carve, you'd have to be a retard to not be able ot do it, every ski carves. literally, EVERY SKI. but really, nobody can say that park skis carve any better than most carving skis or any race skis. and if they do, they really have no idea how to ski well. fuckin little park fuckin pieces of shit that cant ski the shit wall of a run little crap faces BOUSTAN

I think most people out there could get their park skis to rail (I dont mean slide a rail, I mean when you just lay them over and let them run), but I dont know if they could actually carve them. Most park skis would be soft enough, but the speeds I see most jibbers 'carving' at usually makes me think that they are just laying them on their edges, not actually working the ski.
In tractor pulls, a 'full pull' is the best you can get. Ahh, how sport mirrors life.

mad_trixx a few posts above said i great idea. I have mavericks and i have a sidewall caved in on one edge, but i just use them on the other foot when im out of the park. Carving is definitely about knowing how to ski the specific ski that you're on. I can carve the mavericks like crazy, but i had to rent one day at school and i couldnt do hardly anything for about an hour on the damn rentals until i learned how to ski them.

if you cant carve on a little D tuned edges then your an old crusty racer man who cant adjust to the times. until racers can do what i do i give them absolutly no credit at all in any way or form.
