I don't think Bush is goind to war just to finsh that other Bush off....but I think Bush will engulf Iraq with a war for an economic boost because wars always boost the economy and our economy sucks right now.

he is just telling americans why he wants to attack iraq, stating his reasons and telling suddam to give up his weapons or the states will do it it for him

actually canada has said it would send soldiers if the UN and the US came to an agrement on how they would do it, Canada just doesn't want to go against the UN and put there full support to the US untill their is more proof Iraq is a threat. If iraq is proven to be a threat you can be pretty sure Canada will send troops

me and my brother protested in kennebunk, where i live, right in front of the bush house on sunday when the president and his dad were done their.

actully, a good amount of people who did lose loved ones in 9-11 want peace. its 50% or around there. i saw it on CNN.

we need PEACE!!!!!!! War sucks. everyone hates america cause we spend so much on military.

Sugarloafer--the president is in now way promoting death and destruction, in no way at all. If anyone is promoting death and destruction it is Saddam Hussein. He is a copmplete mad man that has no feelings for his 'country' or family.

This is all about weapons. This is in no way about Bush being selfish, nor is it about the economy. It is purely about a mad man in Iraq that has biological and nuclear weapons, and he will not hesitate to use them. The U.S. must step in and rid Suddam of his weapons.

Bush isn't doing for the economy, a war would create even more uncertainty in the markets and could also cause an oil crisis. I don't presume to guesse Bush's methods, he might be doing it cause he genuinely believes the states are in danger, or he's trying to find something to campaign on. But what i do know is that military analysts are predicting the new gulf war to be VERY bloody, estimates on casualties is 1,000 dead... on the u.s. side alone. not to mention mass civilian casualties. This war is going to be mainly urban battles, sadam's 80,000 strong elite fighting force and 35,000 strong security force have been training for entirely urban battles, which means the iraqi army will bunker down in cities, which the U.S. can't bomb with out risking widing the conflict. Not to mention the Iraqi's could conscript 300,000 soldiers. These would be young, untrained men, who have to choice but to fight. Also saddam will most likely try to escalate the conflict be sending scud missiles into Israel, in an attempt to force israel to attack and cause arab fundamentalist states to join in. The U.S. and britain constantly making a diplomatic solution immpossible. Now sadam might be an evil bastard, and even possibly a war criminal for the ethnic cleansing of the kurds, but their aren't to many other leaders out their that would be any better. Also Bush seems to exagerate the threats, a CIA report said that Sadam could have nuclear capabilities in 10 years. Not in one year like bush constantly says. We should keep on trying to find a diplomatic solution and not unleash a bloodshed.

If the only reason Bush was going to war (the SOLE reason, none other - like a lot of you said) was to boost the economy then he would be absolutley jumped on by the rest of the world. Sure, wars do boost an economy but you don't just say, oh, let's have a war, it doesn't work like that.

Yeti is right, Saddam is a bad mofo. His people hate him, his family hate him, the world pretty much hates him. The USA shoulda killed him back in 1990-1991 when they had the chance.

And is kinda strange that he's going against the majority of the population (who a lot of you said, do actually want peace). And also against the wishes of the UN. Saddam agreed to let weapons inspectors back in, problem solved, but no, Bush says it's not happening and that he's gonna kick his ass anyway. Right. Bush's little personal war, he's a cock. Time for a revolution.

it's really odd... most of the time the intellegent people or people that know alot about a situation advocate non-violence but here you've got all of the people that actually know the history of Iraq and Saddam saying that he should be attacked and the people that really don't know saying, 'Lets just make peace, I don't want anything like 9/11 to happen again' that's living out of fear and not intellegence. So really Timmy MAtt and others are completely right. He gasses his OWN PEOPLE! why wouldn't he do it to another country? he sets fire to 700 oil wells and causes millions of tonnes of oil to be sent into the atmosphere, do you think he cares if some neuclear waste is sent into that atmoshpere when he pushes a button on the weapons he's developing?

if your answer is no then you have absolutely no right to comment on bush's policys concerning iraq.

if your answer is yes then you dont matter anymore because noone wants someone like bush having access to these things.

How about all the homeless people join the army, they need jobs don't they, I always get into arguments w/ liberals (go read a sociology textbook ya republican) yea I have, put them to work in the military, the military has good benefits, helps you get very VERY affordable housing, and really, it's not that tough.

The way i look at it, if we do nothing, then eventually saddam will do something devastating to people somewhere. More likely israel over the USA, but innocent people nontheless. If we do something, and get rid of saddam, there'll be some pissed off muslim countries and one pissed off osama bin laden who is already (supposedly, assuming it was his voice on that tape)threatening 2 major attacks on the civilians and economy of america if the US doesn't back off of iraq.

So basically, there's not much choice....somethings gotta be done, and either way a lot of people are going to be hurt or killed. Catch 22 i guess.

i feel that a total war on iraq is wrong. i also feel that his weapons of mass destruction and chem/bio weapons should be stopped. he should hang for gassing the kurds as well. the us is not taking much of a side on the Kurds issue, because he supported the genocide with money supplied by who? the usa

Saddam may be an evil bastard, but who's going to replace him? A fundamentalist? We all now how well that worked. Remember Bush, Blair, and Serhak have all been called war criminals by a geneva convention council(you never heard of it because it was boycotted). No we don't want saddam to have nuclear weapons. But does anyone remember another famous historical pre-emptive strike? oh ya thats right, PEARL HARBOR! Many of you aren't think of the possible side effects of attacking Sadam. Civilian casualties(or colateral damage) is unavoidable. But civilian deaths will only create more hate and more terrorism. Also if saddam is attacked he will try to widen the scope of the war by fireing scud missiles(possibly with bio and chem weapons). If isreal sent in troops to Iraq, you'd have all muslim countries forced to withdraw support from the U.S. and possibly even pledge troops and support to Iraq. Saddam may be evil, but he's no idiot. He knows he can't win in a straight out war, he also knows that the other arab nation leaders hate him, but if he can goad isreal into attacking the other nations may have no choice but to join him(public dissent can dictate foreign policy, even in an undemocratic state). Sadam knows his only chance is to hide in cities(where civilian casualties are more likely to occur, and civilian casualties create more support for his cause in arab nations, and internationaly) and try to get as much support for him as possible. The only military option for the U.S. that minimizes civilian casualties is considered insane(that is do a massive parachute drop of special forces into baghdad with heavy air support and try to get them to take the city.) We have to do something with saddam, but military action IS NOT the answer, it only ends in more death.
