they have got there own style and the tunes of there songs are awsome

The ysuck, most over-rated band, so boring and bland. I wanted o like them so much when they first came out, but really they arent good. Good bands do soemthing different, try to push the boundaries, much like good skiers, but these guys lick my asshole.

i totally agree with nine milla killa. they got so much coverage and hype saying that they were so good. so i got all excited and then when i heard them i was soo disapointed. i kept listining to it to see if i was missing something but then i just gave up and relized that they suck

yeah i like the strokes they have a cool style, smooth, yet energetic, as for hype, i'm not sure how much hype could change the quality of the music, i've had their cd for a while ( before they had hype) and since then the cd hasn't exactly changed...don't dislike stuff because someone else likes it...thats stupid...

i like them, i like their style, but i dont really think they are that great of musicians ya know what im saying? their drum beats dont have much improv in them and its pretty basic guitar, but i still like listening to them

they wouldnt be anywhere if it wasnt for the connections they have. one of the kids fathers owns a big modeling business or something and they got a big write up in rolling stone about their demo. seriosuly, who gets a big article in rolling stone when all you have is a demo? but whatever though i dont mind their stuff that i have heard

strokes and white stripes=are awesome bands. i love that type of like 'garage band music'

i dont not like them because of their hype. that was the reason i checked them out. i simply dont like them as a band. i do like other similer bands like the white stripes or the hellacopters though

HAHAHA...reasons to hate the strokes. 1) The guitar player has his guitar at his neck, that is the most retarded looking move on earth. 2) their daddies bought their career. 3)4 Retarded monkeys could sound just as good. 4)Is it the strokes, vines, hives, or one of another dozen bands that sound exactly the same...I cant tell.
Reasons to hate the White Stripes...1) bands with only two members excluding Local H and Stereo just plain suck. 2)They are a divorced couple according to all accurate sources who look like an incestual brother and sister. 3)1 retarded monkey could sound better. 4)Ya minimilist rock is cool but not when it sucks. 5)Their award show performance was the second worst of all time next to Axl and the Fake Roses. Come on a bunch of preppy MODs, with fat chicks on stage doing the robot. If I am watching TV and videos or a show, I only want beautiful girls on it. Non of these fat normal girls, like in the Dashboard video if that fat bitch dumped me, oh wait I would never date a girl that fugly.

Fuck these bands, they are as fake as the backdoor boys. They are so over hyped by their labels its disgusting. The Vines wanna be fucking Nirvana but they suck. The Hives cant even speak english. Check out Refuse, Cancer Conspiracy, Dillinger 4...and pretty girls make graves.

I agree with you, but why the hell shoudl how he plays guitar matter, as long as it works for him. The bass player from The Slackers plays an electric like an upright bass, this is slightly odd, but doesen't really matter. Another example is the guitarist from Hepcat, he plays with the close guitar style, and he is very good.

i think the strokes, the hives, the white stripes et. al. are a good alternative to most of todays music. you complain they all sound alike. that's the music industry. whatever sells is in. example pearl jam...bands are still copying them.

as for the vines trying to be like nirvana....uhhhhhh......don't see it. they are more brit popish (like a raged out oasis) than seattle grunge.

and if you want fake....well in my opinion most modern punk bands are perfect examples of fakes. punk started out as a revolution. as a way to express dissent. when it originated there were serious civil issues being resolved. times were different. yes there are still serious issues out there but these bands don't focus on them. they just scream shit about anti-authority, anti-commercialism, and slogans that are no longer pertinent. what do these people have to complain about. they are mostly middle class folks who have had there way paved by there parents. throwing on some ripped clothes, sporting some wierd hair, and screaming into a microphone sure as shit doesn't make you a rebel. it's all an act to attract attention so they can do what?.....that's right, make money, just like everybody else.

About the money? hmm, well considering I am not a punk that doesnt really offend me. The kids I know who are in bands and put on shows usually lose money. They do it cause they love it. Even some fairly popular independent bands are barely breaking even thats why a lot of other jobs. A recent hardcore I know the finances for. A hall to put the show on was 500 bucks, 250 for a cop, 200 for the headlining band. Every other band got gas money and stated at various kids houses around the area (no hotels here) and the kid who put it on still lost money. Thats what happens when you charge 5 bucks a head...but thats true to who you are and what you represent. The top like 1% of bands can do it as a living exclusively and of those only a few make enough to be considered well off. I am not against making money, I am against cookie cutter bands being exactly alike. Yes pearl jam, i mean creed, i mean on of those other million bands that sound like that suck too. Well let me rephrase that, they are talented and dont suck. They are just unoriginal and have no appeal to them besides a catchy hook or two and cheesy lyrics aimed at 14 year old kids who spend their lives in a mall.

Some good songs, but also soem really annoying songs. Such as the 'Take it or leave it' song. That song can go burn in hell for being so damned annoying.

But they do have some good stuff tho.
