On a lot of other online forums, a thread creator has the ability to delete their thread, like if a question they have is answered, or they just realize the thread wasn't necessary, or any reason. I was thinking that would be helpful for newschoolers. If I made a thread selling something, and i found a buyer and sold said item, then i could make new room for other threads, make searchbarring for a certain item a lot easier because someone wouldnt need to enter each thread to see if it is sold or not, which is especially difficult to do when someone doesn't say whether the item is sold or not just by deleting the thread. I realize we can pm a mod and have them delete a thread of ours if we want, but we could save their time by just deleting it ourselves, and it would also help limit the copious amount of reposts the forums experience on a daily basis.
thoughts?

that was 5 years ago, many things have changed...especially the number of members and number of threads posted daily.

and the reason most agreed with was "responsibility for your posts" Im not talking about if you make a retarted post, would you rather see reposts, knowing that the thread creator is taking responsibility for his post, or not see them at all

I could see this being useful in B/S/T, but the ability to threads seems unnecessary in the other forums since it increases accountability, gives the mods job security, provides occasional entertainment, and the fact that almost all threads are dead after 24 hours anyway.

Could be useful for the BST but I also think it could make scamming easier. If somene bought an item and the seller deleted the thread immediately, that could take way any evidence the buyer might have of him selling the item. It would be a nice feature for the BST though.

BST is the one forum that it should NOT be allowed due to the potential for scammers to delete the evidence. I suppose the mods could always bring the evidence back from the dead, but still.

I think in BST there should be the option to "Close" a thread after the item has been sold or bought. That way there would be accountability, but at the same time get rid of confusion about whether or not things are still for sale.
But I think that the thread creator could also just post in the thread saying it's sold or that they found what they're looking for.
