No kid, and you are just a kid OP, should have to put up with shit like this. Even if you're 15 you aren't mature enough to handle a weighty situation like this. I'm sorry for sounding like an authority figure, but it's the truth.
Don't fuck with it, take a picture if you want to hold it over his head, make sure you have a pic of the entire garage showing where you found it too.
It almost seems to me like it would be better to do it now, while he is still young and won't remember it. At least then he won't be growing up in that situation.

Your brother doesn't need a dad with a heavy opiate problem. Even if he just sells, people get hemmed up for drugs like this. The chances of his involvement with these substances bringing some heavy shit into your lives is 100% (armed robbery by some junkies / violent debt collection). You need to get rid of this guy.
Some things to consider:
If your with your mom "illegally", then bringing the police/social services into the picture could result in her losing custody (if they decide shes not a fit parent).
The cops WILL NOT believe that you were able to purchase fentanyl with the intent of framing him. (so if you call the cops and your mom tries to say this, they wont buy it)
Generally fentanyl is used as a heroin substitute, if sells it, he probably sells heroin as well. Or if he uses it, he probably uses heroin, or Oxycontin [basically professionally produced heroin]
Your options as I see them:
Call the cops
Tell your mom (but dont do that unless your ready to call the cops IMMEDIATELY if shes trys to do anything but throw his ass out.)
If you have cousins / uncles you can trust, call them and tell them the whole situation. THey can either vouch for you with the cops, or help you confront him and throw his out out.
DO NOT DO NOTHING, DO NOT WAIT.
I can't imagine how hard this can be for you but, if you do take this to the cops you may not see your half brother again for a long time unless you are both given to the same family. I don't know what state or where you are from but legal age in the USA at least is 18, which means you would both likely be given a guardian of some kind. You may be able to go to the same guardian at the same time too.
So, in the end, my opinion for what it is worth, is take it to the cops.
Fent is used Exclusively as a pain med for people who can manage their pain with 160mg of Oxy (which is a TON)
sounds like your mom was ready for that question. call the cops.

What the fuck do I do?
My mom, who defends him to the death (that he isn't abusive/alcoholic/an asshole) would only accuse me of buying it to frame him, so telling her would do nothing.
I could confront him directly, but mingling in his trade could result in violence (I know he deals other opiates).
I could take photo evidence, keep it until I turn 16, and use it against him in a court, get emancipation and move in with my grandmother/uncle.
I could destroy it.
All I know is that I wont let it by me again. Ive found his Suboxone before, and didnt really do anything about it.
To add to this, I checked his history, and a few days ago he was reading all sorts of shit about FBI Clandestinely produced fentanyl from mexico, in the form of a Duregesic Transdermal patch, the most common form bought and sold illicitly, reinforcing my assumption that it was purchased illegitimately. They dont prescribe that shit to just anyone, that shits for like, cancer patients.

My dad works in a program called Guardian Ad Litem (basically he's someone who only focuses on the child's interest in situations like the one you're in, if it got the attention of the courts) and I hear about stuff like this all the time. It's so hard to really mature and become a good person when you're in a bad situation like this. Untrusting biological parents and sketchy step parents.

you dont want to turn him in for dealing cause thatd have huge consequences that im not sure your willing to stir up. you cant talk to your mom at all? does she know he sells? your best bet may just be to stay out of his way if you have no relationship with him. just do your own thing and live your own life. you could observe what happens to him it could be a learning experience. you wont get in trouble for his mistakes. if anything he'll eventually fuck up and be out of the house anyway.

So my mom left me with my grandparents because she had to work and shit. This was in north carolina now. Five years from then, we move to NY. Then, in 2004 my grandparents got a divorce, and my mom took me in. At the time she was wicked Lonely, met my stepdad, and was hooked on him, convinced that hes fucking great. So they had my brother, which I call "The legitimizer" because then at least one of my mothers children will be born in wedlock.
But because of my brother, 8 months old, I love him to death, I dont want to split up the family and send my stepdad to jail or anything, because even though hes a douche, I would rather leave Adam with a dad. Later in his life, he can make the decision to stay with him or not. So my alternative is to just leave. Live with a relative, or in a camper or something. After high school Im going to skibum for a few years, so maybe this is just fates way of giving me an early start.

hmm, well you could go to the police but i dont think there just going to arrest him, so what i would do is do some more investigating and find where he keeps his shit. Dont take it, go to the police station with the shit you have and tell him he has more drugs and where they can find them in the house. This way i beleive they could get a warrant to search and he will be fucked, plus your mom will obviously have to beleive you.

I decided to bring it to my mom anyway, just to see what she would say and everything.
We have a friend who has cancer, and they prescribe fent to cancer patients for the intense pain of chemo, and she mustve left it behind. Which seems like a legit excuse, but my mom might be covering for him?
Im suspicious, because even if that was the case, why would he be looking up FBI warnings on clandestine fentanyl? The warnings claimed that those batches illegally made in mexico were dosed wrong and were ODing people all over the country, particularly in the northeast. Why would he care about such a warning if he had no intent to use it?
And why wouldnt he use it? Hes got a sketchy history, and I have just cause to think that he is or was a junkie. I used to keep a log of his stash of suboxone (A step down from heroin, close to the same effects for wayyy cheaper. A flake of a pill would kill me, and when I counted his stash, he took them whole!)
So I might use this whole experience to segue into his suboxone and oxy/hydro deals. I need to snub him out somehow.

Sounds like your mom is covering for your stepdad and he has an ongoing problem. In my opinion, I think you need to get yourself and your brother if possible out of that house. Sure it sucks to break up a family but that is some serious shit. It only sounds like it is getting worse, and if you start confronting him about it things could get out of hand.

I'm with this guy. A whole family is a great thing, and something every kid should grow up with. But, with a Fentanyl dealing dad and a mom that can't see what is happening (no offense to your mom dude) how truly whole is that family? It's is almost worse than growing up with a single mother. If your stepdad has illegal drugs which he is possibly selling, then you need to tell the police. I think your mom is clearly trying to cover up for your stepdad. Why would someone with cancer bring serious medication to your house and leave it there hidden in the garage. That type of medication is probably extremely expensive and dangerous. No one would bring that to someones house and leave it around.
Your stepdad clearly has a SERIOUS addiction/drug problem. You need to be the man of the house and call the police and ask for help. Your mom is clearly not doing her 'job' and you have a step-brother to look out for. Your stepdad needs help.
I would tell your mom that your calling the police. If it was really a friend's then they will find that out and everything will be okay.

I say you get on the phone with your grandma or uncle to at least let them know what's going on. You also might want to check your mom's story, if you know the friend she was talking about. And like other people said definitely tell any family members you are close to about this and try to stay with them with your brother too.

word of advice though (and this helped me out in tough times recently, though my situation was different) even if you dont call the cops, talk. ether to a close friend or a relative or a phycologist...just talking and getting things off you chest and into the air will help with the personal stress im guessing you're feeling. i know i would be in ur situation.

Go to a pay phone away from the house and call childs help line. They always talk about it at school and its profesional people there to help you for free and no names involved. Their advice will probably be 10x better than NS. Good luck

dude you need to go to the police. As stated above in previous post fentanyl is a very strong drug and the story that your mom told you sounds like complete and utter bullshit. i know people have said it before but call the police. not only should you be worrying about yourself and your baby brother but you need to worry about your mom. your step-father sounds unstable and could turn on your mother in a heartbeat and you don't want anything like that to happen. your best thing to do would be contact your closest relative and create a plan, ask for advice, trust me they won't be mad at you and will do whatever they can to keep you both safe. also i would contact some for of higher authority or let your family member do so. this is a really big situation for someone to handle at 15. i went thru something similar at 6 years old and didn't know what was going on until now, my mother tried to frame my dad for drugs and abuse and had him arrested and kicked out of the house. it was terrible watching that happen and i hate my mother for it.
but mostly you need to be strong, don't let this affect you in school, friendships, everyday life. handle it like an adult and thinks will work out for the best. when the police get involved it's going to be stressful and take time to heal. i'll be praying for you and hoping things work out for the best...
