sunset on cranberry lake... i didnt notice the heart until after i uploaded the pic to my computer
everything else is just so insignificant...

This was the most horrifying picture I've ever had the pleasure to take. After a nice walk to the beach and a fine bowl to the dome, I had come to realize that I was sitting right next to a least tern's nest. These birds are no bigger than a finch, they have a wingspan of probably 10 inches. They're very territorial, and as soon as they realized I was on their turf, they weren't going to have any of it. They would fly up 20 feet in the air and dive bomb right over me at seemingly lightning speeds. This bird was probably 2 feet away from my lens. It was by far one of my favorite photography experiences.

i was just up there a couple weeks ago taking a canoe trip up through the bog river. Cranberry lake is so serene. Is that on one of the many islands or campsites. I think i stayed at camp 17.

but as pleasing as these are to look at, i dont see how this is photography. not singleing you out, but i dont understand how people with wicked nice cameras take pictures of small things aaand call it photography? im not a photographer so maybe someone can explain how this qualifys as an art

just shows your ignorance on the subject, first off i'm using a 65 dollar lens combined with 100 dollar extension tubes, that is by no means a wicked nice setup, also it's damn hard to focus when you're doing macro worksickter. i like the second one.

the art form is making you look at everyday things in a different way, that way being super up close

you said you think they're cool pictures, thus you enjoyed them and got a "good" feeling from looking at them. there is no guideline for what art is or is not. the photographer "creates" the image by being there at the right time with the right light and the right settings. then you say they look "sickter" and you appreciate it. sickter. i like the second one.

at the hotel we stayed at there was a fishtank in the lobby. the man at the front desk saw us enjoying it so he said they could put a goldfish in our room. they did. the last of those shots was him, king reginald the fourth. i don´t know if they fed him so i think he´s dead now. reginald fought with the tenacity of a scotsman and with the tactical wit of a briton. rest in peace reginald, i know i´ll see you again some day.
