well a friend got to upload some of my prints from my photo class this semester, but there's only two that i actually like. really dark cause the print was pretty dark, and then scanning kinda messed it.

Speaking of getting the shot... I sat out in my truck at that same spot last night waiting for a storm to roll thru, for 3 and a half hours. at 3:45am I left, and 7 minutes later guess what? strikes spaced about a minute and a half to two minutes apart for 20 minutes. Bugger!

30D w/17-85IS. 13s at f7.1 in manual. I quickly learned you need 2 cams for effective lightning shoots. After I'd shoot one and wait for the buffer to clear, a big strike would occur. Unlucky.

What I found last year, at least in the storms around salt lake, after the first 3-5 strikes of a storm you can count between shots and usually get a decent 10 second buffer. two storms I shot last year had 45-55 second spacing during the first half of the storm and 1:34-1:50 between during the second half of the storm, then it goes downhill and spaces out to over 5 minutes and the storm winds down. I went in last year to buy a 30d, but instead changed my mind when I held the nikon d200. Haven't had the chance of spending any time shooting a canon yet, would like to before I moved up to the d2 series or mark II

If your considering a switch to Canon, the earlier the better. I've used both quite a bit and everything little thing about them are polar opposites. Zoom, focus, terminology, etc. It can be a real pain to reprogram your brain. I don't get why Nikon is so far behind on their pro-sumer and pro lines. No full frame and still producing and upgrading a 4.1 MP body. Anyway, not hating I just don't get it.

There's another lightning trick by using burst. But that's the most effective if you have a remote shutter. Have a really small aperture and use burst and leave the shutter open... then right after the lightning strikes close the shutter.

So once I sell my truck, skis, computer and soul, maybe i'll be able to get it. plus all the lighting equip and mid range lenses. you'd think I wanted to shoot an NFL game or something. which in that case, throw a second body in there for the short/ long double setup. god, why do I pick all the expensive hobbies? lol
