Overall
I absolutely loved the suit, and would have given it an 8 or 9 if it wasn't for the stupid pockets. Personally If you're goign to make something removable on a suit, just don't put it on. Removable shit never works in my mind....
Though after saying that I will admit that the jacket came with a removable liner that is super sick. Its like a light synthetic "hoodless" (hoodie with no hood) that is super warm and if the temperature goes up you can just wear that or just wear the jacket shell. It only attaches in with three small velcro tabs, so its basically a separate layer you wear underneath.
Super sick jacket, and if you can deal with the removable pockets, you'd be totally stoked on it. I'm a huge Helly Hansen fan, as almost everything they make is exceptional... and this suit is no different save the pockets. After I removed them I was short on storage space, but had a really great performance suit.
Performance
The suit performed very well, its functional features such as waterproofing and zippers all worked very well.
The one downfall of the jacket though is that they made all four pockets on the front of the jacket removable. First off, I have no idea why I would ever want to take the main pockets off of the front of my jacket, and second off the connection method makes the pockets hang off the jacket very loosely. The bottom clasps come off easily, and the pockets flip upside down and flap in the wind. I got so annoyed with them, that I just ended up taking them off... though then I had a jacket with only one pocket.
Design
The looks are stunning.. the jacket really is cut professionally, and has an eye for both perrformance and style.
Once again though the detachable pockets made me want to tear my eyes out.
Fit
I got some of the end of stock sizing, so my sizes were a little weird. I went with a size L jacket, and XXL pants. Usually I just go XL of both, but I really liked the colour so I went with these ones. The L jacket just fit me, but that means that it has a healthy large fit. Not massive, but just enough room. THe XXL pants were big, but their cut made them hang right, and they weren't TOO big.
Durability
The suit was bang-on for durability. It took a beating, and kept on going, I didn't break any parts of it, or tear anything. HH seems to have fairly tough product with their roots in workwear, so you can certainfly trust this to hold up to whatever you've got coming at it.
