D-Structure and Icer Air presented a special body of work last night.
Picture the most beautiful ski shop you’ve ever been in. Triple it. Cover the walls in Eric Pollard’s body of work. Display the finest ski gear mixed with the most stylish artists’ branded clothing. Stock the booze: top shelf only. Fill the space with scenesters, hipsters, skiers, producers, and industry insiders. Turn the DJ’s music up. Turn the lights down. Drop the screen from the ceiling. Show the best ski movie in recent history. Let the dance party rage all night. Welcome to what a shop should be. Welcome to D-Structure San Francisco.
D-Structure San Franscico is the most unique, beautiful, and culturally relevant ski shop of our generation. Azikiwee Anderson and the people of D-Structure have created much, much more than just a shop. This is a design collaborative, where the city’s most talented artists garments combine with works from our ski world. It is a place skiers should be proud of. In Azikiwee’s words, “The idea is not selling skis to people that already ski. What we are really focused on is putting ski companies in a unique setting so that people can feel like they stumbled on something worth finding. They will want to tell other people about it, which is the best publicity you can ask for. You have to give people a reason to be a part of something. We all want to be a part of something bigger than ourselves. A lot of shops try to feed the fact that the sports are cool. The reality should be quite the opposite. You need to display the uniqueness and style of the people in the sport. Once people like the style of those that represent the sport, they can feel a part of something and relate to both the athleticism and the life style. We just want to showcase the sport and celebrate the things about skiing that make us proud. We are trying to display the sport so that it improves the overall worth of the sport and sets a tone for the future of the way we should be perceived.”
Last night the shop kicked off a month long show of Eric Pollard’s and his wife Erin Valverde’s work. With over 600 people in attendance, skiing was on the tip of many more San Franciscan’s tongues than it otherwise would be. A fortune’s worth of alcohol was given to the crowd as skiers and city folk mingled and observed the pieces. Later in the evening Eric Iberg and Pollard showed their season’s work: Idea. The vibe created last night was due to a special melding of circumstances. It was the one-year anniversary of D-Structure. It was the opening party for Icer and they helped promote and provide the bar. Finally, what skier wouldn’t want to see Eric Pollard’s athletic and artistic work. As the night was a highly visual experience, the pictures below will do the majority of the talking.

incredible
but
on another note... sceansters and hipster are way homosexual and shouldn't have shit to do with that.
2) Pollards art is pretty damn good. Lots of neat styles and I like his call sign instead of the signature, neat idea.
3) D-structure San Fran looks fucking amazing. Well done with that place D-Team.
skiing can be cool!
Pollard is the best human persone for skiing right now.
Makes me want to paint and draw and make tons of stuff! Thanks!
THAT IS SOO GOOD!
seriously, i knew he was talented, but thats really, really damn good.
On second thought, are those 09 skis possibly?
I'm not trying to put you down at all. Just consider more than just how good the art is because that is not always how good it actually is.
Mr. Pollard I think your art is superb but I have no masters in painting or bfa so I suppose my opinion doesn't really matter...
Pollard, Tanner,Dash,M D,Seth and style. With someone like Pollard I need more than this....... Negative not, its art. I watch a lot of bad skiing on this site. Everyone will say, that sucks....... As soon as their faced with some art they love some C class art.......suckers sucked up in their enviroment......I hope not....negative but a thought.....of what...art???? aaaaaaarrrtttt is just that, subjective and just as cruel as skiing...look at art and then lets talk.......................about it.
I am sure that some artists are certainly more talented, but if you believe that just because someone's work is not the most amazing out there you are missing the fact they put themselves out there and tried to express how they felt. I am a crappy artist, with no real training, but it still serves as an amazing outlet when I need to empty myself of emotion or feelings. These experiences are not wrecked by the fact that I am a poor artist.
Let others do and be as they wish to, and appreciate the will to create and express, because once we lose that, the soul of our sport is gone.
ppl like him give skiing a good name

respect!
also how is doug levinthals head so much bigger than matt connely's in that picture
Those commenting that there are other artists out there that don’t get the opportunity or respect that Eric is getting for his artwork, of course that is true. Remember, this art show was at a SKI shop, it was part of an opening party for a SKI competition, over half the exhibit was made of SKIS, this story is posted on a SKIING community. People in this community respect and are interested in Eric Pollard because he is a SKIER and for that reason of course also interested in him as a person. A big part of his personality is creating artwork, no different than surfing, editing video, snowboarding or any activities in his life that make him who he is. When he posts a video of surfing, no one comments that he’s not the best surfer and that there are other unknown surftrs that are better not getting this attention on a SKI community, thus we should all be not enjoying watching him surf. We all enjoy watching lots of videos online, of skiers not always skiing. Appreciate this SKIER’S art exhibit for what it is, not what its not.
