Overall
Overall impression: Skiing was sick. The soundtrack was a rollercoaster...ranging from the usual chill tracks and reggae, to some electronic, Santogold, Fabulous, and brain-hurting rock. And the editing was a big lagging and repetitive in my opinion, as well as their standard narration and interviews. However, the mostly film medium based cinematography was top quality, mixed in with nice watercolor graphics, and a bunch of epic arial perspective shots. It definitely could be one the best TGR movies to date, and I guarantee it will inspire you to ski some pow.

Teton Gravity Research's movie from this year, if ya don't know. If you like TGR, you will like this movie, and if you don't, chances are it probably won't change your mind that much. In true TGR form it is almost exclusively big-mountain and powder skiing, with some freestyle jumping and snowboarding mixed in. Leaving out random ski-basing, Mica Black, and "record cliff airs" in 2008 (which I could care less for), Under The Influence sticks true to what TGR does best, and they do it well!Basically the BEST big mtn line-up (Seth Morrison, Sage Cattabriga-Alosa, Jeremy Jones, Dana Flahr, and Ian McCintosh), combined with AMAZING conditions in Haines, Alaska made for some truly awesome footage. Seth has the deserved opener featuring what is one of his best seasons in a long time in classic Seth style. Although he seems to call out the T-Hall film crew for holding him back in previous years(?), he spent a lot of time heli-skiing in AK with the TGR boys and it paid off. Sage skis some of the coolest spines, and high-exposure lines that I have ever seen! Say no more. And Dana ends out the movie with hi-speed, hi-consequence lines and mid-line spins, which is refreshing to see. The guys kills it, this is definitely his first eye-opener part for the ski world to see. And the veteran, Jeremy Jones, has another step up insane part (opened up by a very cool night-pow shred sequence). Guy fuckin rips.Rounding out the other aspect of things, Wiley Miller, Dylan Hood, and Dash Longe are standouts as far as bringing lots of freestyle tricks to jumps, hips, pillows, and lines. Good stuff. And a cameo from Sammy Carlson is also refreshing, as he helps the aforementioned dudes kill some pow covered park jumps and other features at Grand Targhee.Otherwise, the movie was a mix of the usual Jackson Hole content, mixed in with other heli trips and parts from Kye Petersen, Victoria Jealouse, Gigi Ruf -(courtesy of reused Absinthe footage) and Erik Roner.
