When I just watched Joffrey Pollet-Villard drop one of the best runs since Candide. Flat 5's ala Crichton to the fucking moon. THAT is what halfpipe skiing is supposed to look like, fast and loose.

Honestly, I thought the run was really refreshing. Just some one trying to go as big as possible is super sick. I still think the judges were right though when not putting him on the podium, he went a little scrub on his last hit, and to podium, your run really has to be tight

I agree that this is basically one of the sickest runs I've seen in a long time. I was standing right under that legendary Dave Chricton flat 5 at WSI years ago, and I think I was equally impressed with this one.
However, the problem is that if you're going to score lower technicality and higher style tricks well as a judge they must be perfect.

Sw 7 second hit came out a bit early.
Landing of the flat 5 was ever so slightly wobbly.
Last hit he almost put his butt down.
Now - I'm with you that this is basically exactly what we should be seeing out of pipe skiing. I am repeatedly watching that run with my mind completely, utterly blown.
I just can see why he was docked points. I'm not looking at other runs, so perhaps others had the same types of imperfections, but its the little stuff like this that makes judges knock style down. If you are going to win on style, it must be absolutely flawless.
Fantastic run though, man I'm going to be watching this guy in the future.

Sadly this is true. Joff's run was by far my favourite, first 3 hits are mindblowing but there was definitely plenty of sketchiness in all 3 of his runs that meant he lost points. I actually think the judges have basically done a good job this year so far. Joff's run would have got him on the podium if he had put a full clean run down.
