A frontal system brought 10cm, or 4 inches, of snow overnight in the alpine and the first snowfall to Whistler Village this morning. The Environment Canada Alpine Forecast is calling for a snowfall accumulation 10 to 15 cm or 4 to 6 inches today, and an accumulation of 25 to 35 cm or 10 to 14 inches overnight. With less then a month to go until Whistler Blackcomb’s Official Opening Day on November 25, conversations have quickly turned to new equipment, favourite runs and powder days.

Whistler Blackcomb is excited to open with 1100 acres of new terrain on Whistler Mountain, unveil the fully redeveloped Creekside base and launch the new Superpipe on Blackcomb Mountain. There is also the 2005 FIS World Snowboard Championships to look forward to. The Snowboard World Championships - the most important snowboard event prior to the Olympics. The event occurs every other year, and will take place in Whistler from January 15 to 23, 2005. For further information, visit www.whistlerworlds.com .

This is the perfect time of year to buy a Whistler Blackcomb Season Pass. Whistler Blackcomb has frozen the prices for a Season Pass at last year’s rates. For residents of British Columbia and Washington State the new Edge Card, perfect for frequent skiers and riders, is only $49 Cdn if you buy online before November 14, 2004. The Edge Card also offers incredible deals on accommodation in Whistler. Edge Card holders can book as many nights of lodging this winter season for the low room rate of $89 a night.
