THE COURSE
The course layout stays true to the skate park influence that garnered the Orage Masters it's title as the "Most Creative and Progressive Competition of the Year" by Axis Magazine. Mammoth Mountain's Unbound Terrain Park Manager, Oren Tanzer, describes this year's Masters Set-Up, "I'm so excited about this years course. Once again, along with Orage, we've pushed the standard of what was formerly known as contests to the next level. Jibs, jibs, and more jibs, and the must see pit of doom. I can't give out any more info at this time except for the fact that we have sighted a pink alligator we hope to capture for it. I'm spent…"
THE JUDGING FORMAT
The judging format for the Masters is once again in the hands of the athletes
but this time around every athlete has a say. The first 3 Heats will be head-to-head
12 min. jams while the other 4 Teams look on from their individual scaffolding
"cribs". At the end of each Heat both Teams will stand before each
non-competing Team and will be shown a number from 1-10. The esteemed MC Shawn
Pozer will then add up the scores from the non-competing Teams and 1 Team will
advance and 1 will be eliminated but will continue to judge remainder of the
event. In the event of a "tie" each Team Captain picks 1 of his athletes
to go head to head on the feature "tie-breaker" element for 3 minutes.
The winning athlete advances his Team. After 3 Heats the Orage Masters field
will be cut down to 3 Teams. Each of the remaining Teams will then have the
course to themselves for 10 minutes and will receive a tally of the scores given
from the 5 Teams looking on. The Team that receives the highest total score
after their individual session has just won the 2004 Orage Masters.

With the 2nd annual Orage Masters quickly approaching, the winners of the Orage Masters video challenge will be announced soon.
Eight teams enter, one team leaves… with sleds and a plasma tv.
Orage is looking for two skiers, and two cinematographers to send to the Orage Masters in Mammoth taking place this May!
The Orage Masters 2010 has came and gone. Once again, Orage hosted an awesome event full of good times, laughs and hangovers. The Surface Dead Heads skied their asses off and despite some shady judging (sorry, someone had to say it) were unable to move onto to the next round. Our team this year consisted of Banks Gilberti, John Ware, Jeff Kiesel and Dania Assaly... all of whom, couldn't have skied better. Big ups to Orage for hosting the athletes, Ian Matteson for the photo updates and Evan Heath for manning the video camera. Can't wait to see some footage of the chaos otherwise known as the Orage Masters. Until next year.
