Night Moves at Whistler Blackcomb: the most fun you can have with the lights on

Whistler, B.C., December 8, 2003 - After great success last season, night skiing, riding and sliding will return to Blackcomb Mountain as a part of ?Night Moves.? Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays starting December 18, Night Moves will feature a new and improved rail park, and a local favorite, the King of the Rails competition.

?Night Moves and the King of the Rails competition were really popular last year, so we decided to bring them back,? said Christopher Nicolson, Whistler Blackcomb Public Relations manager. ?It?s great for people who work all day and want to ride rails at night, and for people who just can?t get enough of the terrain park. It?s also a great place to try another sport for the first time. We?ve seen skiers come to Night Moves to try snowboarding, and vice versa.?

The new Night Moves rail park features include a Mini Rainbow rail, complete with a 15 feet long by 3 feet high rail, C-boxes, jib boxes and pyramid features.

Night Moves starts at 5:00pm and runs until 9:00pm. It will not operate on Christmas night, but will be open additional days during the holidays: December 28, 29, 30 and 31. The cost is $5 for adults, and $4 for kids 12 and under. The King of the Rail competition is an additional $2, and takes place at 6:00 on the following dates:
Dec. 27; Jan. 17, 31; Feb. 14, 28; and Mar. 13, 20.

Tobogganing will be allowed in a designated Kids Area. Please note that this is the only time tobogganing is allowed on ski runs during and after operating hours. Snowskates and snowbikes will also be allowed to ride the chairlift, and 18 Below restaurant at Base 2 will be open for drinks and snacks.
