A day after GoodEnoughBGK dropped what is arguably the edit of the year; a raw-cut springtime dismantling of PCMR so chock-full of hammers you thought it was a goddamn carpentry class at your local community college, Superproof Inc. has leapt onto the scene with something else altogether.

GoodEnough, seriously, is good enough.

Since the fall, Sean Pettit and company have been teasing some particularly artsy shots from their upcoming project. Max Hill smoking, walking around and looking cool; Sean P, ahem, acting; Leigh Powis slamming repeatedly into a tree, scored with the answering machine recording of a heartbroken lover. Each new preview has led us to speculate further about just what these guys are up to. (Insert speculation here. No, seriously, insert it. I can’t find it anywhere.)

Well, our frayed nerves can at last be put to rest. With today’s release of the Recruitment trailer, we finally have our first concrete look into the dark, edgy world of Superproof, and our introduction to a new development in freeski filmmaking: screenplay. In many ways, the trailer raises more questions than it answers. With so much emotion and drama and, you know, things on fire, the Recruitment challenges the viewer to look inward upon his own relationship to skiing and ponder:

How seriously can I take myself? Is there any aesthetic more pleasing than black and white? Wait, why the fuck did he shoot that guy in the head?! Is this the KIDS concept?

Art, man.

We will have to wait until September to see just what the finished project looks like, but until then we can only dream. With some time left in the spring, and a winter’s worth of unreleased shots lurking off screen, we can guarantee that the final product will be one for the history books. We just hope there aren’t any lifestyle shots from Scandinave Spa. Yikes.

In the meantime, we’ll have to satisfy ourselves with trap music, zoom crops, and Khai Krepela throwing down a better ender than Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. I might be okay with that.
