The first annual Parsky and Slush Invitational kicked off in perfect Northwest style last week. After a full-blown weather day at Timberline, people were stoked to get back on snow, even in the fog. The overall field of competitors had a strong showing of locals included Ike Smith, Austen Sweetin, Austin Hironaka, Pat McCarthy, Tim McChesney, PLUS Frequency Magazine's John Laing and HCSC Head Coach Dave Reynolds.

Rule #2 – if you’re going to drink, find a caddy to haul you around.

McCarthy feelin' loose on the links.

While the riders did laps through the park, the leaderboard was updated with scores per trick, and by 2pm, everyone had finished (or at least tried to finish) the front 9. When we hit the green-grass, Austin Hironaka was in the lead by 1 stroke over Tim McChesney. (Austin had an issue with the backside of #7!) Oakley Golf rep. Sean Boland proved to be the most agile golfer on the course by hitting the John Daley Tall Boy T 235+ yards (1/2 empty can). Plus, he made par on #6 in perfect Happy Gilmore style – including his putt stroke!

Sweetin was determined to knock one on the green with the classic Happy Gilmore shot.

Austin Hironaka and Tim McChesney took the on-snow front 9 holes, while Ike Smith carried the most legit and honorable scoring and therefore won the overall, with Dave Reynolds in second for the combined score. Everyone in the field was kitted out with COAL hats, DANG shades, Oakley shirts, Hwy26 Boardshop golf-towels, Sessions Lager and of course POW Golf Gloves.

Foggy lips at Hood.

Winners received: Contour HD cams, Kikkor Golf Shoes, Dakine Golf Bags and complimentary Timberline Lift Tickets. Special thanks to the Resort at the Mountain and Timberline Lodge for making this all possible!

We had to give it up for Tim McChesney overall, who walked away with the prestigious black jacket.

Look forward to seeing this as an annual event, as it will hopefully grow to be a highlight for summers at Hood!

The set of photos below come from Blackjack at their 2010 Slush Cup competition (much writing has come from this day). While I did not capture it, the snowboarder gets completely out of the pond and lives for the next round. Still, amazing stuff!
