Utah’s Brian Head Resort Announces Best Picture & Video Contest

Two first place winners will receive season passes on April 1, 2011 for both the remainder of this winter season and for the 2011/2012 winter season. The winners will be announced during Brian Head Resort’s annual Spring Carnival. The deadline for submissions is end-of-day Thursday, March 31, 2011, and submissions should be emailed to media@brianhead.com.

Celebrating both its scenic setting and the prodigious amount of “The Greatest Snow on Earth” it receives annually, Brian Head Resort in southern Utah is hosting a “Best Picture & Video Contest.” The resort will award winners for both the best photo and the best video on April 1, 2011 during Brian Head Resort’s annual Spring Carnival. Both the best still picture and best video will earn season passes for both the remainder of this winter season and for the 2011/2012 winter season. The full price of an adult season passes at Brian Head is $549.

The criteria for the content of the photos and videos are very broad. The only restriction is that each video and photo must be either shot at Brian Head or be about Brian Head. The imagery can depict skiers, snowboarders, events, powder, landscapes, sunsets, sunrises, favorite winter memories -or anything else associated with the legendary Utah ski area now in its 45th season.

The submitted photos and videos do not need to be raw images, they can be enhanced. Submissions can range from a favorite family photo taken during an unforgettable Brian Head vacation to a short film to a sophisticated, consumer-generated Brian Head TV commercial. Submissions cannot include copyrighted materials, such as songs and likenesses, without the written consent of the copyright holder.

“The goal of the contest is to capture imagery of Brian Head’s wonderful, unique combination: on one hand it’s a fantastic family-friendly setting perfect for beginners and on the other hand it’s a serious snowsports mecca with plenty of black and blue runs often covered deep in Utah powder,” explained Brian Head’s Sales, Marketing and PR Manager, Jon Christoffersen, who developed the contest.

The deadline for submissions is end-of-day Thursday, March 31, 2011, and submissions should be emailed to media@brianhead.com.

Videos can be in either MPEG-4 or WMV formats. Photos can be either in JPEG or TIF formats. All submissions must be below 12 megabytes. Individuals may send multiple submissions, but each one must be sent in a separate email.

Each submission must include a mailing address or fax number to which Brian Head Resort can send a release form granting it the right to use the videos and photos in our marketing and PR efforts. Submitted videos and photos will not be entered into the contest or used by BHR for marketing or PR purposes without a release form being signed and returned. When the videos and photos are used by the resort, appropriate credit will be given to the respective photographers and videographers.

The submitted videos/photos will be used in BHR’s marketing and PR campaigns. A full listing of official rules and related details is posted at http://brianhead.com/best_picture_video.html.

About Brian Head Resort
At 9,600-11,307 feet above sea level, it is the highest ski resort base elevation in Utah. It averages nearly 400 inches yearly of the "Greatest Snow on Earth," has three terrain parks, eight lifts, 65 ski trails and 650 acres of ski terrain for downhill skiing, snow tubing and snowboarding from mid-November through mid-April. There are also assorted options for après ski dining and drinking, entertainment and ecotourism, as well as cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and much more. Brian Head’s very family-friendly atmosphere includes an uncrowded setting with no lift-lines, an award-winning, all-inclusive children's program for ages 3-12 at Navajo Lodge Learning Center, an entire mountain and facility dedicated to kids and newcomers to winter sports. There is also a state licensed day care facility. Brian Head’s location is perfect for combining a skiing or snowboarding trip with a visit to Las Vegas. Likewise, Brian Head is likely closer to more national parks than any other ski resort town in North America; Zion, Bryce, Capitol Reef, The Grand Canyon, and Great Basin are all within easy reach. Cedar Breaks National Monument is two miles from Brian Head.
