WHISTLER BLACKCOMB’S LEGENDARY TURKEY SALE RETURNS TO WHISTLER OCTOBER 8-11, 2010
Bargain hunters need to look no further; up to 70 per cent off half an acre’s worth of ski and snowboard gear
.

WHISTLER, BC, October 4, 2010 – The return of the legendary Whistler Blackcomb Turkey Sale takes place this weekend, October 8-11, 2010 as snow inducing winter temperatures and precipitation are teased in the forecast. With 20,000 square feet full of sale items, including goggles, hats, skis, snowboards and much more, all up to 70 per cent off, there isn’t a better way to “gear up” for the upcoming season, now less than eight weeks away.

“Those looking for amazing deals will be able to find anything they need at significantly discounted prices to help them hit the slopes safely, comfortably, and in style this season,” says Josh Buchanan, merchandising manager of retail operations at Whistler Blackcomb.

The Whistler Blackcomb Turkey Sale kicks off at the Blackcomb Daylodge (the base of Blackcomb Mountain) on Friday, October 8 from noon to 9 pm for “locals,”, EDGE Card Members, and Season Pass Holders. Deals continue on Saturday and Sunday from 9 am to 6 pm and Monday October 11 from 9 am to 5 pm

“With so much to choose from, the selection can be overwhelming,” says Buchanan. “Our knowledgeable staff, most of whom are long-time local residents, know the gear inside and out and are there to help bargain hunters with any questions, while recommending the best ski and snowboard gear for their needs at the best possible prices.”

The weekend of great deals isn’t just focused on ski and snowboard gear. Guests can stay in resort this Thanksgiving weekend with rooms starting as low as $89 per night and enjoy the last weekend of summer/fall operations at Whistler Blackcomb including the Whistler Mountain Bike Park.

The Whistler Mountain Ski Club (WMSC) will also be hosting its annual Sale With Awesome Prices (SWAP) alongside the Turkey Sale. Visitors and residents can sell their used gear, or pick up one of the many second-hand bargains available. For information please visit http://www.whistlermountainskiclub.com/

Enjoy incredible value all season long by booking a trip to Whistler Blackcomb before November 15, 2010 and save up to 36 per cent. When purchasing a Book Early & Save package, guests also receive a best price guarantee. If the package purchased drops in price during the season, Whistler Blackcomb will match the lower price, guaranteed.

Video Park Report by Brian Finestone - October 1, 2010

Whistler Blackcomb's Nintendo Terrain Parks crew is bringing park riding to the forefront by adding an Olympic-sized Superpipe to the mix. Crews are widening and straightening the Superpipe's fall-line for better riding and to accommodate the 22-foot Global Pipe Cutter. Whistler Blackcomb is also partnering with Arena Snowparks for rail fleet production and the 15-foot mini pipe returns to Blackcomb Mountain due to popular demand. Crews are also improving the Nintendo Terrain Park on Whistler Mountain. Park preparations began in early September with four new snow tower guns set up on Blackcomb Mountain. The snowguns will increase snowmaking productivity 75 per cent in the park, allowing features to open to the public even earlier in the season. The Whistler Blackcomb Parks event calendar has been modified to showcase all aspects of park riding, including pipe, snowcross and rails throughout the season. Whistler Blackcomb is replacing four grooming cats with the new Piston Bully 600 snow cats, two of which are equipped with winches for grooming steeper and more technical terrain. Whistler Blackcomb grooms 1,200 to 1,400 acres of terrain each night, more than any other resort in North America.
