Stratton’s pulls off successful Mountain Mayhem Rail Jam
Warm weather no match for big tricks

STRATTON MOUNTAIN, VT – The temps were 80 degrees and sunny, not exactly the record highs of Wednesday afternoon, but a far cry from the 10’s, 20’s, 30’s and 40’s, Stratton skiers and riders are used to seeing during the winter.

This time the tricks, not the weather, broke the records.

Stratton successfully held its first annual Mountain Mayhem Rail Jam on Sunday afternoon with over 85 participants, crystal clear skies and the last, biggest pile of snow in all of Vermont.

“This was incredible for Stratton,” Events Manager Diane Lovell said. “To see all of these people enthusiastic about the sport at this point in the season is unbelievable. Our entire staff did a tremendous job preparing for this and I can’t say enough about the dedication of our parks crew.”

The setup, the mastermind of Parks Designer Eric Langman included six box rails, two missile rails and a quarter pipe that enticed riders of all ages. Langman spent the better part of a week nestled in the CAT, which does not include air condition, trying to piece it all together.

While the event was a success, Stratton’s Facebook fans have until Friday, June 4, to enter in the Mountain Mayhem Facebook contest, which allows competitors to play the role of event reporter, submitting an approximately 2:00 video with highlights of the Mayhem. Public voting, teamed with a panel of judges will determine the winner.
