K2 Sports, evo and Chihuly Raise Money for Charity

SEATTLE (February 24, 2010) – Fremont-based action sports retailer evo and K2 Sports are unveiling a custom Dale Chihuly glass piece during a public silent auction for charity event at evo’s store Friday, Feb. 26 from 6-10 p.m.

Greater Seattle-native Chihuly created a snowboard and pair of skis for K2 – both of which will be donated to the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Puget Sound during the unveiling of his Neon Tumbleweed piece. Neon Tumbleweed will be on display at evo for an undisclosed amount of time.

Chihuly is one of America’s foremost and well-known artists. His glass art pieces revolutionized the glass sculpture world from the early 1960s through present. More than 200 museums around the globe showcase Chihuly’s work. Rather than exclusively use glass, he directs a great deal of energy into his work with markers, chalk, and fistfuls of pencils. Now he most often uses acrylic paints in squeezable bottles, like those used to create the dramatic one-of-a-kind skis and snowboard that will be available for auction to benefit BBS Puget Sound.

Big Brothers, Big Sisters is a leader in one-to-one youth service, now for more than a century, developing positive relationships that have a direct and lasting impact on the lives of young people. Big Brothers Big Sisters mentors children, ages 6 through 18, in communities across the country - including Seattle.

The evo store will remain open for sales during the entire unveiling event. Pyramid Brewery will also be present providing drinks to guests 21 years and older.

evo explores the collaboration between culture and sport by seamlessly joining fashion, music, art, and sports themselves. Through their unique events, movie premiers, art exhibitions, and partnerships they are simply providing a venue to share what they love. Passion for building community is a driving force - both national level and locally in Seattle.
