Snowbird Launches iPhone App,
Ski Patrol/Snow Safety Twitter Feed

Snowbird, Utah – Snowbird Ski & Summer Resort officially unveiled two new social media tools this week for skiing and snowboarding enthusiasts: an iPhone application and a Twitter feed with mountain updates from Ski Patrol and Snow Safety.

Snowbird’s iPhone app, designed by the Salt Lake City-based digital firm Welikesmall, is the first branded iPhone app released by one of Utah's 13 winter resorts and is available free of charge at the Apple App store. The Snowbird app displays a variety of real-time information and interactive features broken down through a simple navigation of Snow, Go, Show and Extras:

· Snow: This main page provides on-mountain data such as recent snowfall, year-to-date totals and the five-day weather forecast. Snow also includes the @SnowbirdSki Twitter feed with mountain updates, events, deals and other recent news. Scrolling down reveals live feeds for Snowbird’s mountain cams and SnowCam, a Doppler radar map and links to the Utah Avalanche Center report and the National Weather Service forecast.

· Go: Includes Little Cottonwood Canyon road conditions and directions from the user’s current location. Rotating the phone displays Snowbird’s trail map in full screen, allowing users to toggle between maps of the front side of Snowbird, Mineral Basin and a Landmark feature which includes historical markers and Ski Patrol routes throughout the mountain.

· Show: Brings up the current Snowbird Photo of the Day before scrolling through the most recently updated community photos on Snowbird’s Flickr page. Users can also take their own photos or choose one from their library, tag it with a Snowbird logo and immediately upload it to Snowbird’s Flickr page.

An Extras page allows users to tally up their ski days during the season, with additional features planned in the coming months. For screenshots, please visit www.snowbird.com/iphone.html.

Snowbird’s Ski Patrol and Snow Safety recently launched the @SnowbirdPatrol Twitter feed, providing first-hand observations of weather and snow conditions as well as updates on mountain openings. @SnowbirdPatrol is believed to be the first Ski Patrol and Snow Safety Twitter feed in the ski industry, providing Snowbird enthusiasts with the most up-to-date mountain information. Recent updates can be viewed at www.twitter.com/snowbirdpatrol.

Snowbird also maintains @SnowbirdSki on Twitter with event information, deals and updates as well as a “Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort” Facebook fan page and a “SnowbirdSkiResort” YouTube page with the latest powder skiing footage. For more information, please visit www.snowbird.com.
