BLOGGERS WILL ACT AS WINDOWS TO THE WORLD OF WHISTLER BLACKCOMB
Variety of perspectives at Whistlerblackcomb.com will provide fresh content throughout each week

WHISTLER, BC, December 11, 2009 – Starting today, living vicariously through the life of a real Whistler local just got easier with the launch of Whistler Blackcomb’s Blogs. Featuring five individuals, each blog will provide an up-to-date and personal perspective on Whistler Blackcomb’s latest happenings and adventures on and off the mountain.

“We are fully embracing the social web to share and connect with our guests. Getting passionate, local bloggers on board to help us tell the story was a natural next-step for us,” says Stuart Rempel, Senior VP of Sales and Marketing at Whistler Blackcomb. “We know that a successful blog requires commitment and fresh, lively content. A multi-author approach and integration with our very successful Twitter and Facebook presence make our blogs a great addition to our social media platform and an engaging way for our guests to learn more about Whistler Blackcomb.”

Whistler Blackcomb is excited to provide windows into five vastly different, very entertaining worlds as each blogger posts about their lives in Whistler during the most exciting winter season yet. Without further ado, meet Whistler Blackcomb’s Bloggers:

Beric: The Powderhound

I'm an expert skier who enjoys the freedom of going wherever the conditions are best. My interests include snow forecasting and analyzing the ski conditions to maximize the experience for myself and those I'm with. I'm often called upon for where and when to go up the mountain based on my close watch of Whistler Blackcomb’s changing conditions.

Victoria: Rookie Rider
One morning I woke up and inspiration hit me; it was time to take on Canada! Four months later I wound up here: Whistler BC, the second largest Australian community on earth! I took one look at those shining mountains and soaked up the colourful spectrum of accents and entertaining company, and that was it...I fell in love. I've never seen snow falling, I have never boarded or skied, I am new to town and I am ready for action!

Sam: Mountain Action Fiend

I'm an expert skier with 23 years of experience on the slopes and five seasons of experience skiing Whistler Blackcomb. My interests include deep powder, steep mountains, taking pictures, and eating baguettes. I’ll be writing and taking pictures of those who push the limits at Whistler Blackcomb.

Meg: Lady of Leisure
I am a snowboarder but family ski trips are how I was first introduced to Whistler Blackcomb. At seven years of age my greatest dream was to live in this mountain town with a four-legged friend and a storage room full of gear. The winters called me, the summers hooked me and ten years later I cannot imagine calling anywhere else home.

Grant: Freelance Writer, Full Time Rider
This is my third winter in Whistler. The first year I was an absolute beginner snowboarder. By the end of last season I got to an intermediate level. This year my goal is to spend 100 days on the mountain and take it up a notch or five. I plan on becoming more familiar with both the terrain and the unsung heroes who help make Whistler Blackcomb amazing everyday.

Whistler Blackcomb’s Blogs can be found off the top of the homepage or directly through www.whistlerblackcomb.com/blogs. Readers can choose to follow their favourites or read the most recent post, as they are updated daily, Monday through Friday, for the duration of the winter season.

NEW VIDEO ONLINE NOW! “Getting the skills to rip the hills,” Episode 3 of the Whistler Blackcomb Snowcast, presented by TELUS. In this episode, our snowboarding host Toaster, decides to get back on 2 planks. He meets up with snowboard instructor, Ryan Pepper and ski instructor Sebastian Baribeau from the Whistler Blackcomb Ski and Snowboard School, who teach you a few skills so you can rip the hills.

Consistently ranked as North America's top ski and snowboard resort, Whistler Blackcomb gets ready to welcome the world in 2010 as a host venue for the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. With uninterrupted skiing, riding and sightseeing available throughout the winter, season two of the highly acclaimed PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola, and the best deals of the season guaranteed before November 15, Whistler Blackcomb continues to raise the level of mountain excitement for its guests. Located a scenic two-hour drive north of Vancouver, Canada up the spectacular, newly-finished Sea to Sky Highway, this resort is home to Whistler and Blackcomb mountains, which boast one vertical mile of incredible skiing and riding. With over 16 alpine bowls, three glaciers, 200 trails, and 8,171 acres of skiable terrain, the choices of where and what to ski/ride at Whistler Blackcomb from beginner to advanced terrain are staggering. Joined at the base by a vibrant pedestrian village filled with award-winning après bars, restaurants, patios, cafes, shops, galleries and spas, and surrounded by breathtaking scenery, this four-season resort is spectacular.
