WHISTLER BLACKCOMB ANNOUNCES 2009-2010 SEASON PASS PRICING

The “Why on Earth Would You Buy a Season Pass? Because We’re Making You an Offer You Can’t Refuse” Campaign Offers Lowest Pricing in a Decade

WHISTLER, BC, August 24, 2009 – Whistler Blackcomb has unveiled its early bird season pass pricing with the lowest price point in a decade. An early bird adult unlimited pass is available for $1,099 starting at 9am on Thursday, August 27 through October 12, 2009. In comparison, last year’s early bird adult unlimited pass was $1,529. This year all pass prices include unlimited access to the PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola.

“This season will be an amazing, memorable year, and as we prepare to welcome the world this February and March during the 2010 Winter Games, we cannot forget our most valued guests: our pass holders,” says Dave Brownlie, president and chief operating officer, Whistler Blackcomb. “We will encounter some access challenges this coming season unlike any prior year, and we have listened to the concerns and feedback pass holders have provided. But, it is important to remember that there will be very little Games impact for the majority of the season. We believe this season’s pass prices provide exceptional value, and will inspire people to join us for what will certainly be an epic season. ”

With this season being unlike any other, Whistler Blackcomb has developed a special 2010 Bonus Pak available at an additional charge to the early bird pass price. For $429 early bird pass purchasers receive a $500 Whistler Blackcomb gift card and three adult lift tickets, valid any day during the season, offering a combined value of $734. The 2010 Bonus Pak is only available to season pass holders and only until October 12. In addition, the first 2,000 purchasers of a 2010 adult or senior season pass will receive a pair of Olympic Victory Ceremony tickets.

This season, all season pass products include unlimited use of the PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola. Additional season pass perks include: 20 per cent off food and hot beverage purchases, two-for-one Fresh Tracks tickets, 20 per cent off rentals, half price Coca-Cola Tube Park tickets, bring a friend lift ticket offers, $100 off heli skiing, 20 per cent off purchases in Whistler Blackcomb retail stores, $50 off ski and snowboard school as well as summer discounts (some conditions apply). Following the early bird purchase period, the adult unlimited season pass will be available for $1,529.

Along with a compelling pass product, information to help maximize its use is vital. To help pass holders and all guests plan their winter at Whistler Blackcomb, a section of the web site has been devoted to information about what people can expect at Whistler Blackcomb prior to, during and post the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. The website whistlerblackcomb.com/olympics has the most current information available, catering to a skier or snowboarder’s perspective. This site will continue to be updated as further information is confirmed by VANOC and the Resort Municipality of Whistler.
