Drew Tabke threw down a smooth, fast, clean run and took an early lead in the Subaru World Freeskiing Championships in Snowbird on Friday. The day puts Tabke in good position to claim the McConkey Cup for the overall Subaru Freeskiing World Tour title. Tabke currently sits only seven points behind leader Lars Chickering-Ayer in the sprint for the cup. Chickering-Ayers, however, fell in the midst of a stellar when he hit rock coming off a high speed air in the North Chute area of Silver Fox. Chickering-Ayers sits in 53rd, and is likely to miss the cut. If Chickering-Ayers does, indeed, miss the finals, Tabke will only need a 15th place to take the cup.

In the women’s field, Angel Collinson continued her domination. Collinson already has the McConkey Cup sewn up, and is looking for her fourth victory of the season. Aside from a 2nd place in El Colorado, Chile, and falling and finishing out of the points in Revelstoke, Collinson finished first in every tour stop this season.
