Snowbird, Utah – It may be April Fools’ Day, but the numbers don’t lie: Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort has received more than 100 inches in the last 10 days, pushing the season total to 495 inches with a mid-mountain base depth of 145 inches. The mountain is in mid-winter form, skiers are raving about some of the best conditions of the season and additional storms are looming in the forecast.

“March has gone out like a lion at Snowbird,” said resort president Bob Bonar. “The mountain is skiing incredibly well, and with this deep snowpack we expect to offer skiing and riding well into May, continuing our tradition of offering the longest season in Utah.”

Snowbird’s projected closing date is Memorial Day, weather permitting. Last season the mountain remained open until June 22. Skiers and riders who want to extend their season can take advantage of a number of ticket deals. Snowbird is offering a Spring Pass for $279 that is good thru the end of the 2008/09 season and discounted $62 Tram and chair tickets beginning April 13.

Lodging packages, including Stay and Ski packages with Powder Perks discounts, for $99 per person/double occupancy, can be found at www.snowbird.com. Snowbird will be presenting the North American Gelande Championships April 17-19 along with free live music throughout the month. Mountain restaurants are currently accepting Easter brunch reservations, call 801-933-3663 for more information.

To see photos and video of the recent powder skiing and riding, go to www.snowbird.com and click on Photo of the Day. Live shots of the current storm’s snow accumulation can be seen using Snowbird’s SnowCam at www.snowbird.com/snowcam.
