WHISTLER BLACKCOMB Remains Open Through June 8

Longest Ski Season in North America also Boasts Most Skiable Terrain

WHISTLER, BC, April 8, 2008 – As most other resorts ramp down and close for the season, Whistler Blackcomb kicks spring skiing into full gear. Skiing and riding on Whistler Mountain will take place until April 20. Spring skiing continues on Blackcomb Mountain from Monday, April 21 through Sunday, June 8. With a current snow base of 265cm and 3,000 to 2,500 acres remaining open for May and the first week of June, spring is shaping up to be as epic as the rest of the season.

Starting Monday, April 21 access to Blackcomb Mountain will be from Excalibur Gondola in Whistler Village. The lifts open for skiing will be Excalibur Gondola, Excelerator Chair, Jersey Cream Express, 7th Heaven Express, Glacier Express, and Horstman T-bar. Crystal Chair will open on weekends, but the skiing and riding in the Crystal Zone will remain open, accessible by Glacier Express, seven days a week as the ski out allows. Mountain hours of operation starting Monday, April 21 will be 9am to 4pm with the last upload from the valley at 4pm.

Wizard Chair and Solar Coaster Chair will be closed for maintenance April 21 through June 8, reopening on June 9 for glacier skiing and sightseeing June 9 through July 27 on Blackcomb Mountain.

Blackcomb Mountain will have an exciting new terrain park through to the end of May in the Jersey Cream area starting April, 21 featuring a mix of small, medium as well as large jibs and jumps built for the Orage Masters. The Nintendo Highest Level Park will close on April 20 to accommodate Peak 2 Peak construction, as such there will be no XL jumps requiring an extra pass.

Throughout the spring, the most current lift and operations schedule will be available on whistlerblackcomb.com, the Snow Report and the Today on the Mountain. Check in regularly for the most up to date operation information.

Canadian and Washington State residents can get a head start on next season by purchasing an early-bird 2008/2009 EDGE card. A five day EDGE card is $309 with Peak to Peak access and a 10 day EDGE card is $564 with Peak 2 Peak access. Skiers and riders who purchase next season’s EDGE card will also have the chance to purchase an Unlimited Spring Pass for $89 (valid March 29 to June 8). The EDGE card spring deal runs from March 18 to April 30. Purchase a five- or 10- day EDGE card by April 30 and receive one free summer Peak Adventure in summer 2008 and one early 2008/2009 season day.
