The best freeskiers in the world will battle it out for $7,500 with the men’s and women’s overall U.S. Freeskiing Tour point leaders taking home $2,500 each. Over 60 men and 30 women are scheduled to compete at the Subaru Squaw Valley USA Freeskiing Open including freeskiing champions Cliff Bennett, Kevin O'Meara, Griffin Post, last year’s men’s winner Adrien Coirier and Tour Champion Jess McMillan.

“Squaw is the perfect venue for a freeskiing contest; awesome terrain, great access, and perfect spectating spots. Not to mention, the local talent is unbelievable,” said former U.S. Freeskiing Champion and Squaw Valley USA local Ingrid Backstrom. "The month of January has been epic here; it's shaping up to be excellent conditions for a contest. I can't wait to see everyone charging."

High Camp, elevation 8,200 feet offers an array of dining choices as well as the Olympic Ice Pavilion and free form pool and spa. The new European style pedestrian Village at Squaw Valley USA offers extended dining and shopping choices. “We are super excited to bring the Subaru US Freeskiing Series back to Squaw Valley USA,” said MSI Director of the Winter Sports Group and Announcer Dak Williams. “Squaw is one of the true meccas of big mountain skiing. We look forward to having an athlete pool that brings legends, as well as up-and-comers, together for the second stop on the 2008 Subaru US Freeskiing Series”.

Once again, MSI will be posting same-day video webcasts on the newly redesigned usfreeskiing.com which features state of the art video and photo player technology. The daily uploads of video, photos, news and results of each day’s competition action will be available after each day concludes.

Jesse Bryan finishes 2nd  Dynastar Lange athlete Jesse Bryan finished 2nd this past weekend February 15th at the Subaru Squaw Valley USA Freeskiing Open. Jesse came into the final day in 2nd and managed to hold to it with two very consistent and extremely exciting runs. The level of skiing was incredibly high with athletes dropping 30-40 foot cliffs, along with technical drops and tremendously high speed skiing. The conditions were not ideal but the sun was shining and all the athletes stepped up to the plate and threw down incredible runs. Jamie Burge, Ben Wheeler and Drew Stoecklein also had great finishes in the Squaw Valley Comp.
