It's All Good in Stowe
Snow, Accolades, a New Website, and More Snow

STOWE, VT - Nearly three feet of snow has fallen on Mt. Mansfield and Spruce Peak at Stowe Mountain Resort in the past week. The favorable winter weather really started over a month ago, when snowmaking operations kicked into high gear to prepare for another season at the Ski Capital of the East. Today, trails including Stowe's famed Front Four are open with powder conditions and even the Cross Country Ski Center is open earlier than it's been in many years. On Saturday, December 8, Stowe's Gondola area will also open, upping the access for snow seekers to nearly all of Stowe's authentic alpine terrain.

"This is one of our best beginnings in the past decade," comments Jeff Wise, Stowe's communications director. "Seeing is believing right now, the mountain looks and feels like it does during the peak of any given season, it's conspicuous for early December," Wise said.

Great snow isn't all that Stowe has going for it these days. In the midst of a 400 million dollar development, Stowe is reenergized with new lifts, terrain, snowmaking, grooming and a soon to open luxury slopeside resort hotel named Stowe Mountain Lodge. That's a lot to add to the East's premier winter resort and a world-class destination.

Stowe Mountain Resort has been named the ninth best resort in North America according to the Condé Nast Traveler 2007 Ski Poll, the third best resort in the World for terrain and ticket value by Frommer's, and the best resort in the East by Freeskier Magazine.

To celebrate the start of an epic winter Stowe has launched a new website, www.stowe.com
The aesthetically streamlined site is filled with new media, information and promotions like the Vacation Rewards Program, where tickets can be purchased at a 15% discount by ordering at least 7 days in advance. Stowe's new online presence will also include a viral campaign called 'Find Yours.' The dynamic point-roll banners will enable people to share their Stowe experiences with friends.

What is corn snow? Corn snow happens when the snow undergoes a good melt/freeze cycle. When new fine-grain snow warms up, it becomes slow and sticky. Hey Park Riders, Some great pow riding over the last with almost 90 cm's in the last 7 days. This has also given Marty, Dave and their teams of park builders lots of good building material so the parks continue to grow. We are expecting lots more snow over the weekend and have the Blackcomb Park loaded up with snow guns so we will be ready when we have good snow making temps...
