SNOWMAKING INVESTMENT PAYS HUGE DIVIDENDS

Wrightwood, CA – November 29, 2007 – Mountain High’s summer snowmaking investment has proven to be money well spent.  In just 48 hours, the Wrightwood Resort made enough snow to open five runs, set eleven park features, and stake claim to the first Southern California resort to open top-to-bottom.

More than $400,000 was invested in the snowmaking system this year resulting in a 30% increase using the same amount of energy?  Existing air/water guns were modified to increase efficiency and now account for energy savings up to 800 kilowatts per hour. A new water pump was installed that increases the snowmaking capacity at the West Resort by 1,000 gallons per minute. And another fully automatic Super Polecat tower fan gun was purchased to increase coverage in the West Base area. These guns are able to make the maximum amount of snow possible by instantly adjusting to changes in temperature and humidity. At times automatic guns have proven to be 25% to 30% more productive than their manual counterparts.

 

Over the past several years, Mountain high has made a commitment to increasing its snowmaking capacity.  The goal is to produce more snow, with maximum efficiency, while having the smallest environmental impact possible. Thanks to recent improvements, the mountain now emits 85% less emissions annually.
