Pro Freeskier Smiley Nesbitt landed himself a "real job" at the interactive online action sports network, Rip.Tv!

Vancouver, BC, November 28, 2007
– Broadband action sports video website www.rip.tv has hired professional freeskier, Shawn "Smiley" Nesbitt as their ski business developer.

As an athlete, Smiley brings his extensive knowledge of the action sport movie production industry to Rip TV.  In addition, his role will be to continue to develop relationships in the industry, and help grow and establish Rip as the destination spot on the web for enjoying ski action sport content.

"I think the industry's in a weird place right now.  But I'm confident that with the right tools in place, Rip will be the default site for Pro Action Sport Producers to showcase their work to a massive and actively engaged audience. The re-design is almost done and we'll be launching the first and main "new site" in the coming days. I'm super excited to be working here at Rip. I get to talk to all of my friends from the ski industry and get creative on the web - two of my favorite things!" says Nesbitt.

"Everyone I talked to before I hired Smiley said I'd regret it - because you can't teach an old dog new tricks," says Mike Johansen, content director at Rip.

"They said after 17 years of 'living the dream' in Whistler, Smiley couldn't hack the daily grind of city life in Vancouver. I'll go on the record to say that they were all wrong!  Smiley has moved into the Ski department with a bang and is a valued component of Rip Media Group – a perfect ambassador for the sport."

So far, Smiley has brought in high-quality content from companies such as Matchstick Productions, Poorboyz, Salomon and Nimbus Independent.

About Rip:
Rip is an interactive broadband action sports network, bringing together premier video content and news from around the world - including exclusive programming, live-event action coverage, and footage from the top producers in the industry.  Rip is the hub for innovative and interactive content, for and by our active community. Rip is different because we live and breathe the action sport lifestyle with our audience – we are what you watch.  For more information, please contact info@rip.tv.

This was the big show.  The biggest of big shows for me, it’s something I’ve aspired to be involved with since I first saw the show back in April 2004.  Seeing the slideshows then made me look at action sports photography in a completely different way.  I thought then shooting action sports was just about [...]
