SuperPipe Jam Friday
RailJam Qualifiers Saturday for RailJam Finals Sunday
Nearly $14,000 in cash prizes

(Mt. Hood Meadow, OR) – It is one of the longest running, independently produced freestyle competitions in the northwest. Mt. Hood Meadows will present Vegetate 12 – a three day celebration of freestyle snowboarding and skiing – April 6-8, 2007. The event features a SuperPipe Jam on Friday in the resort’s Olympic-sized in-ground SuperPipe; and a weekend RailJam with qualifiers Saturday for the Sunday finals, staged right in the base area of the resort. A cash prize purse of nearly $14,000 plus merchandise makes Vegetate 12 one of the richest freestyle events in the Northwest.

Vegetate was initially presented as a way to raise money for and draw attention to the native wildflower revegetation program, pioneered at Mt. Hood Meadows. The practice collects and cultivates native grasses and wildflowers for planting in areas where soil is disturbed as a way to maintain a healthier ecosystem. The program was honored with a Silver Eagle environmental award. The event continues as a way to create awareness about the resort’s sustainable business practices.

The list of past Vegetate competitors reads like a virtual who’s who of snowboarding: Peter Line, Jamie Lynn, Danny Kass, Kier Dillon, Jussi Oksanen, Kevin Jones, Mark Schulz, Blaise Rosenthal, Anton Pogue, Josh Dirksen, Kris Jamieson, Louie Fountain, Ryan Neptune ,Scotty Whitlake, Tyler DeWilde, Mikey LeBlanc, Marc Frank Montoya, Marcus Egge, Barrett Christy, Corrie Rudishauser, Janet Matthews, Kellie Wright, Kim Bohnsack, and Roberta Rodger. The event has also attracted freestyle skiers – Phil Belanger, Phil Larose, Sage Cattabriga-Alosa, Mike Larouch, Eric Pollard and Griffin Cummings have all competed in Vegetate events.
The Vegetate Village will feature a gigantic Salomon ski and snowboard demo with samplings from other sponsors. The Full Sail Deck Scene will be grooving to the pulse of DJs from Spun Academy.

An added attraction to the event is the Red Bull SCS Sled Style exhibition – featuring X-Games Medalist Heath Frisby. The team will perform aerial stunts on snowmobiles right in the base area throughout the day Saturday, April 7. There is no admission to attend the base area events.
Vegetate 12 is sponsored by Salomon, Full Sail Brewing, Tim’s Cascade Chips, Clif Bar and Spun Academy. Competitor registration and complete event information can be found at www.skihood.com/Vegetate12.
