Boreal Mountain Resort to Host 2nd Annual Jibassic Pro

Rail Invitational & Film Premiere Saturday, October 14

(Donner Summit, CA) Boreal Mountain Resort will kick off Northern California’s winter of terrain park competition with its pre-season original, the Jibassic Pro Rail Invitational Saturday, October 14. This one-of-a-kind sunset snowboard competition is the only pre-season competition in the Tahoe area, with pro and top amateur urban style snowboarders competing.

Machine-made snow will create the run-in and landing area at the competition location, just steps from the main lodge. Competitors will slide a custom-built 30-step staircase consisting of four funbox options (two flat, one flat-down, and down-flat-down). “With last year’s contest featuring 50 competitors and 3,000 spectators, we hope the second time around will be even bigger and better. A shot at the cash prize purse isn’t a bad way to start off the season either,” said Eric Rosenwald, Boreal Mountain Resort Terrain Park Director. Local talents Jake Devine and Destinee Perata took first place in the men’s and women’s snowboard division at the 2005 competition. “Hosting the first contest of the season in the Tahoe area is a great way to get people excited about winter.” he added.

Standard Films’ latest release Draw The Line (featuring Jeremy Jones, Drew Fuller, Juuso Laivisto, and ten other top riders) will be shown at dusk. Standard is calling Draw The Line “the best all-around snowboard film out this year”.

Entry to the movie and Jibassic Pro Rail Invitational is free for all ages. Boreal’s supporting vendors will offer a tent village handing out swag at the event. Boreal season passes, including the $99 College Pass, $99 Night Pass $199 Super-Saver, and $279 Anytime Pass will be available for purchase at the Jibassic Pro Rail Invitational. Dress warmly or hang out by the bonfire, and listen to a guest DJ live throughout the competition and after-party. Boreal will have food and beverages available at the event. For questions, to inquire about competing, or to view the night’s complete schedule, visit www.jibassicpark.com or www.rideboreal.com.

Tossing inhibitions to the wind, Boreal Mountain Resort reminds us all that snow is for play, and everyone gets a whole year of practice at being 10. Fresh eyes, open minds, and the intuitive Zen of fearless youth prevail at Boreal, and new experiences await anyone who elects to play. Easy interstate access, great first-timer ski and board sessions, ever-inventive terrain park features of 100 sizes and shapes, and an invitation to some carefree cool from 9am ‘til 9pm daily are part of Boreal’s friendly, ever-present vibe.
