Kaunertal Glacier celebrates 21st Opening

The Kaunertal opening powered by Suzuki returns for its unbelieveable 21st round this year! This happens without any signs of getting old - in fact, the vibes around “The Opening” are fresher than ever!

On the Kaunertaler Glacier in the middle of October, normally, the most fresh thing is the snow – if you want to see it in a scientific way! As if it was an irrevocable rule, Frau Holle (an Austrian fairytale figure) shakes her pillows right before the second weekend in October, making the best playground for snowboarders and freeskiers! Everyone who isn't lucky enough to sit in a Suzuki Jimny on his or her way up to the glacier shouldn’t forget snow chains! After all, the Kaunertaler glacier road has already seen a lot of cars parked on its sides because they just couldn’t make all the way up to the lifts. But hey, don’t be afraid! Everyone made it up finally – bro-ness is big and when it’s necessary it might happen that more than five people sit in a car!

International big names and countless young guns will give their best on snowboards and skis at the Suzuki Superrider. This time, prizes with the unbelieveable value of 10,000 Euro will be there to be taken home by the winners! But not only the prizes count. Many young riders have been discovered by the industry and the international scene because of a good performance at the Kaunertal Opening. The “coming together” of  almost all team managers and representatives of the industry make it possible!

All Jibbers will rock the Soulcountry Tirol – Special Trick Award, which will happen on rails honour it’s winner with another nice price!

The ones who want to take it easy can find their favorite equipment on the glacier parking lot, where the BackonSnow Test tour will feature demos of the newest ski and snowboard gear! Like every year this is going to be the first and best possibility to have a close look at what’s new and what’s interesting, and find the setup that fits best to you!

And what would the Kaunertal Opening powered by Suzuki be without its famous parties, which turn the sleepy mountain village Feichten to a boiling partypot again every year? Right! It would only be the half thing! For that reason, the party lineup at the 21st opening will rock like always – that’s for sure!

Das Kaunertal Opening powered by Suzuki geht heuer in die unglaubliche einundzwanzigste Runde! Und das ohne jeglichen altersbedingten Schimmel – im Gegenteil, die Vibes rund um’s „Opening“ sind frisch wie noch nie!

 Frisch ist, rein wissenschaftlich betrachtet, Mitte Oktober vor allem der Schnee am Kaunertaler Gletscher. Als wäre es eine unumstößliche Regel schüttelt Frau Holle normalerweise rechtzeitig zum zweiten Oktoberwochenende – dem traditionellen Austragungstermin des Kaunertal Openings – ihre Kissen einmal ordentlich und fertig ist er, der erste fette Playground der Saison für Snowboarder und Freeskier! Wer nicht das Glück hat in einem Suzuki Jimny zu sitzen sollte also auf keinen Fall die Schneeketten vergessen, immerhin hat die Kaunertaler Gletscherstrasse noch bei beinahe jedem Opening ein paar Notparker mit Sommerreifen gesehen. Aber hey, hinauf gekommen ist am Ende noch jeder, denn die Kollegialität ist groß und wenn’s sein muß sitzen auch ’mal mehr als fünf Personen in einem Auto! Am Gletscherparkplatz angelangt wird das Angebot gewohnt vielfältig und fein sein. Beim Suzuki Superrider batteln sich internationale Größen aus Snowboarding und Freeskiing mit unzähligen Young Guns um Sachpreise im unglaublichen Wert von zehntausend Euro. Aber nicht nur die Preise zählen, so mancher Nachwuchsrider konnte durch eine fette Performance beim Kaunertal Opening schon seine ersten Sponsorenvertäge eimfahren – die Präsenz der internationalen Medienszene, beinahe aller Teammanager und der Industrie macht’s möglich!

Die Jibber unter Euch werden sich beim Soulcountry Tirol – Special Trick Award daheim fühlen, auch hier winkt ein gediegener Sachpreis!

Richtig, die halbe Sache! Deswegen wird’s auch bei einundzwanzigsten Opening partytechnisch ordentlich krachen, so viel steht fest!
