SIA Vegas 2006 - Libtech

Libtech

We really wanted to talk to one of the guys at Libtech who was behind the skis.  We managed to round up one of their Skateboarders, but he wasn't really that enthusiastic about it.   Apparently they're just really into innovation there, and willing to do whatever.   The story we got is that they never really planned to make skis, but a few of the guys who work in their factory liked to ski.   Instead of buying stuff, they just made new moulds in their spare time and pressed the skis out of the snowboard materials with the same technology.   Then the company just decided to run with it and produce the "Narrow Ass Snowboards".   They use the weirdest idea I've ever seen.   Look super closely at the edges underfoot, and you'll see they're wavy.   Apparently it increases edge grip, and helps maintain edge even after rail damage.   The guy who we were talking to said he used it on their snowboards, and it rode super sick.   I'll tell you I'd love to try a pair of these.

It just boggles my mind looking at this.

The skis on the left are my favorite graphics of the bunch.   The technology of the wavy edges is called Imagne-traction and apparently it works quite well.   They say that the people behind all of their ideas build it and ride it constantly to make sure it's sick.   Once again... I'd love to try it.
