I am looking to make the switch from fcp7 to fcpx, but there is lots of debate about fcpx and lately I am hearing nothing but good about Premiere Pro CS6, so im wondering what you guys think. Should I be "upgrading" to fcpx or should I switch to Premiere Pro?

Why would you want to change from FCP7? FCPX is a hyped up version iMovie. It's useable, and it's ability to let you work while it auto-renders is cool, but it's really not a professional editing suite.

PP CS6 is great and all, but there's really not THAT much of a difference from FCP7 for the most part. I still use FCP7 almost exclusively, but I'm learning avid. Premier is alright, but I'm just more comfortable with the Final Cut Pro studio stuff.

Have a nice day, Bluename.

If you're already using fcp7, why switch?

Premiere is a fantastic editing tool (its what I edit on), but still I would see no reason for you to switch!

FCP7 is an unreal software, and you would be making a serious downgrade by going to FCPX, and would gain no real advantage from switching to Premiere.

Just stick with FCP7!
anyone up for some side booters?

The only reason to switch to Premiere is if you want to edit online with heavy footage, or if you want to change operating systems. FCP X is not an upgrade from FCP 7.

FCP X is such a joke – a huge step down from fc7. If you're comfortable with fc7 I'd stick with that, but jumping to premiere wouldn't be a bad idea either, i love cs6

Thanks for the advice guys, honestly was getting really frustrated with the slow rendering. I totally agree with everyone about fcpx after trying it. So I think as everyone said I will just stay with fcp7!

not familiar with cs6 but cs5.5 is great, it takes a while to get used to, and is much more complicated, i was coming from FCPX and while FCPX is easier to use, premiere is fasting and once you learn it, it has soo many more tools and is a million times better than FCPX
