RIght now the spinning initiation is weird compared to most games/physics. Right now, the sooner from takeoff you press spin, the slower you go. It should be the other way around. Most games, like Skate, have a dropoff of the spin speed you can reach depending on when you begin to spin, which makes more sense. If you do a straight air, then try to spin 1/2 the way through the air, you should spin very slowly and barely get any spin around.

I guess not enough people play games on a computer using a controller to justify making a consistent set of drivers that work for all controllers.
