http://www.geargenius.com/content/_/gear-news/k2-announces-outerwear-for-2013 Well it seems that one of the biggest and most talked about mysterys of the past year has come to an end. And if you're like me this is something you've been wondering about for a while, who is Eric Pollards new outerwear sponsor? Well, it seems has though Mr. Pollard has joined the new K2 outerwear program. Case closed!!

nah, he was rumored to be on Dakine's outerwear.

causwell is a small company that couldnt follow through on their promises to EP, so he left them.

don't have to, everything about line in comparison to k2 as it is TODAY fits the definition of boutique brand. You can come up with whatever BS reason you want, doesn't mean it's applicable.

You have defended nothing.

Line_Skis says they are not a boutique brand.

Other facts:
Line is owned by K2
Line is built in K2 productions facilities in China
Line has 23 models for the 12/13 season
Not sure about Lines overall numbers but you would have to assume they are doing in excess of 10 thousand units a season.

Now what part of all that is boutique

You don't even have a leg to stand on besides "derp, cuz I said!"

Considering that each of the aforementioned companies sells traditional non twintip skis to the weekend warrior, I'd say that Line has accomplished something quite amazing. I would go as far to say that it is in large part to the fact that they are very rider driven and focused. Pollard is just one example, but the most obvious and easy to use for comparison's sake. It seems to me that whenever Pollard said he wanted to try something new, Line simply went with it. I'm proud of Line.

ahaha, u suck dude, you're the one using the "derp because I said" defense, I've posted multiple times how Line fits the definition of a boutique brand, your responses have been "no they arn't" then you tried to use math "=/=" then you used some bullshit reason: because they are in the stores near you, then "derp, because line orange name said so"

Even with this latest response all you've done is reiterate shit in favor of my claim. K2 owns line, yes, exactly why they are k2's boutique ski company. ohh 23 models you say how many of them are race skis? or even non twintip? Seems like a specialized line up. And what do you know, it looks like k2 has 53 models of skis according to their website. Ohh sales in excess of 10 thousand units?? whatever the number you claim they will sell, is still less than the k2 skis brand. (as illustrated in asian-allen's post. it's roughly 13k to 50k)

Once again (not that it'll stick in your pea brain) the parts that make Line k2's boutique ski brand:
K2 owns line
Line is smaller than k2 Skis (in product offering and sales)
Line has a more specialized product offering than K2 Skis.

It's all very simple to understand. The fact that Line is a major player in the twintip market these days still doesn't absolve them from the reality of the facts you've so graciously posted.

You wanna try again?

ahaha, u suck dude, you're the one using the "derp because I said" defense, I've posted multiple times how Line fits the definition of a boutique brand, your responses have been "no they arn't" then you tried to use math "=/=" then you used some bullshit reason: because they are in the stores near you, then "derp, because line orange name said so" Even with this latest response all you've done is reiterate shit in favor of my claim. (as illustrated in asian-allen's post. it's roughly 13k to 50k) Once again (not that it'll stick in your pea brain) the parts that make Line k2's boutique ski brand: K2 owns line Line is smaller than k2 Skis (in product offering and sales) Line has a more specialized product offering than K2 Skis. It's all very simple to understand. The fact that Line is a major player in the twintip market these days still doesn't absolve them from the reality of the facts you've so graciously posted. You wanna try again?
ROFLMAO.. good one Static.
Its a shame people can't understand what they are trying to say or prove / disprove.
Besides... ON3pieces-O-Shite couldnt stand up to something as simple as a Chronic if they tried.
And there used to be a quiver in our house to prove it... but they were not worth keeping so we used them as sacraficial lambs to Ullr.
+ rep for being educated and well spoken.. oh and keeping semantics schmanticz!

So I guess that Nordica and Dynastar are boutique brands as well. Hell might as well rope Salomon in there seeing as how they only have a 0.86% lead over Line.

Thaaaaat's an opinion
When a husband and a wife love each other very much, they hug eachother real close. When Jesus sees them hug like this, he smiles. That night when the mommy and daddy are sleeping, Jesus flies down to earth, into their house through the chimney and into their bedroom. Then he takes off the mommy's underwear and pees in her butt. 9 months later, the mommy poops out a baby. And that's the miracle of life. - JohnLemieuxPHOTO

Proportionately I'd still refer to Line as K2's boutique brand.. Except Line's in Sports Experts and other bigger retailers so it's a bit blurry.. But for all intents and purposes referring to Line as K2's boutique brand works for me.

This is so pointless.

awww how cute you wanna play too? If only market share was the sole criteria you'd have a point.

Ok, let's play.

Salomon, Nordica and Dynastar are all owned by larger companies (Amer sports, Tecnica and Rossignol in order). In that list Salomon is the only one not owned by another ski brand.

So the argument of a smaller company owned by a larger company is out the door. Even the "small" argument is out, as previously proven thanks to sales figures.

The argument of K2 running Line can also go out the door right now as well. Go ahead and ask your M.r Line_skis guy and he will let you know that just like Nordica or Dynastar that they run independently, therefore as a separate entity they are responsible for creating stand alone products.

In terms of "highly specialized products" could you not say the same thing about most companies? After all most skis are specialized for something. Yes, Line only sells twintips, but they also sell clothing, poles and bags where as some companies sell only skis, like Dynastar. Would a company only selling skis be more specialized than a company that sells skis and "insert something ski related that isn't more skis"? Yes they do target a specific ski niche but you could say the same thing about Armada if you really wanted to.

On a more thread related note I wonder if he will have a pro model, and if he does I can't wait to see what it looks like.

Eric Pollard?s Self-Edit(s)

Jan 22nd 2010

Eric Pollard is a skier, an artist, a ski designer, and a film maker. His vision for Nimbus Independent has become reality traveling around the world filming what he wants, with who he wants. The best part is he gets to edit it how he wants. This all started from not being satisfied with how his segments were edited. Enter the famous Eric Pollard "Self Edit". Even though EP's day job has become making self edits (and of his friends), he still has time for Line to pump out a fresh one of his 2009 season.
