i did this and just got my finally surgery yesterday. i should be able to ski by the end of august which has got me super stoked since i missed out on my whole summer. thing is my POC helmet is dead, totally out of shape. So i need a new one.

Which would protect me the best? i really dont want to refracture my skull so i need the best bucket out there. So should i go haze, shiv or stick with poc? Also was wondering which one fits the best. cos i have a pretty big head (took XL POC) and it looked ridiculously big. i think the smith haze looks pretty big to, not sure tho. Which looks like the slimmest i guess?

Anyway thanks for any help on this, i really dont know that much about helmets so i def need the help

Post this in Gear Talk for more views. Also it really sucks you did that to you're skull, but amazing you can ski at the end of August after that crazy crash.

Vibes!

I'd say stick with poc. They make a really good helmet that does a good job protecting your head.

wow that must have been a hard fall but i would go with anything that isnt really light. ive used a r.e.d. helmet for the past 2 years and ive taken some pretty hard falls and it still stays intact and i havent gotten any concussions either

Would a full face moto helmet be a bad idea? Or, doesn't POC make a full face?

Honestly, you should get a full head/moto styled helmet. It'll be the best choice since you're obviously going to have a vulnerable forehead area. Some people may give you crap, but it doesn't matter, your skiing should speak for itself and it's just smart in your case.
Skiing is for fun, don't forget it.

im pretty sure POC and the MIPS system is damn near the best ski helmet on the market right now...

as previous posters have said, a full face may be the way to go just to give yourself a bit of extra protection

nah not trying to get a full face one going, its not great for park skiing. but maybe a visor on the helmet would give me a little more forhead protection?

my friend has the poc back country and it appears to sit a little lower. Having read some reviews it seems to be an incredible helmet that sacrifices nothing in the name of safety. I dont think you can get much safer than the poc bc without going full head helmet type thing

If a full face works, you dont have to go for a Troylee d3. d2s and d1s are cheaper or you could go with Giro, fox, bell, ect, but prob go for a DH helmet not moto. And damn thats one massive hit

Alright guys i dont think i'm gonna get a full face. i mean yes i did hurt my forehead a little bit but i dont see how a chin guard and everything would help me. plus if those helmets are anything like DH helmets than they're gonna be a bitch to take off and give me less perifiral vision. like i have a feeling that visor is gonna cockblock me big time on my dub backies

POC helmets are the safest on the market. How much do you care about looks over function? If you are purely wanting to protect your head get POC DH skiing helmet, they are by far the most functional of all helmets. If not then get the new Back Country helmet, it is the safest if ou think you are going to hit things like trees and bolders. If that is too expensive or not suited to you then go for the Frontal POC helmet, it's the safest 'freestyle' helmet they make. Pm me if you want more details on what makes them safest.
imagine if your dick was so long you could wear it as a belt. Ive always had this stupid thought that a girl would come up to rub it because it was such a nice belt. Then you would get a boner and it would whip out and slap her.Just a thought. -radtad

Well i'm much more of a park skier, hardly ever hit up BC since there isnt to much of it where i live, so i definetly dont want a full face. So i'm looking for the most protective PARC helmet. Now i did do my research tho. it turns out POC receptor bug is like the only helmet on the market that has a multi-impact protection as opposed to most helmets that only really save you from 1 big fall.

Now i was wearin XL with pads and beanie.. should i downsize maybe for a tighter fit and ditch the pads?

Ditch the beanie more so than the pads, the pads don't affect the helmets protection very much. If I was you than I would wear the frontal over the bug. The Frontal offers a higher level of protection.

just spend the 300 on the POC BC. It costs a hell of a lot less than another hospital bill.

Il repeat what B.Aussie said. POC Frontal is the way to go. It may not have the soft ears, but its one of their better helmets in terms of protection when you take out the POC DH helmet...
