Alta and Snowbird have a ton of terrain to offer combined. I was lucky enough to have been there only when they had a LOT of snow, one week had 5 feet total. (I have been a lot because my cousin lives in Alta) So unfortunately I cannot vouch too well for what people in Utah would consider a bad day(I'm from the EC though). When it's pretty good snow, the tree skiing is more fun than anywhere else I have been, the steeps are not as big as say Jackson, but they are still there and the mountain is not very crowded at all. There are plenty of gulleys, cornices, lips, and cliffs to pop off too. I honestly enjoyed Alta a lot more than SB, because it was less crowded and had more untouched snow and more fun terrain IMO. The snow anywhere in Utah is awesome and light, better than anywhere else I have been (pretty limited though)and there is plenty to explore. If you are there you can easily make a day trip to Park City, Canyons, Solitude or my other favorite than Alta, Brighton. All of which are like less than an hour away.

PM me with any questions, I may be able to help you out.

Have fun!

There's never really a true 'bad' day at Snowbird and Alta. Even weeks after a storm there's plenty of steeps to rip, lips to air, and smoke huts to find haha

if you're a skier, go to alta. He's right, way less crowded/better terrain. The bird is sick, but when it gets crowded the vibe will crush your psych on a pow day...

My vote: Alta

They are literally on the same mountain. They both have really good terrain. Alta has more traversing, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Neither are very crowded compared to a lot of places in CO unless it's right after a big storm. I say do a day at both.

Doing the pass for both mtns in one day is overkill, no one needs that much terrain in one day, I'd say go every other day. If that's what you mean... Also it's true that they are way less crowded than CO or any where in the east basically.

Both places are awesome. I never had a bad day at either one.
Skiing is better than sex actually, because for me a good round of sex might be seven minutes. Skiing you can do for seven hours.

I live like 10 minutes from little cottonwood, So on a good SEASON they both kick ass anyday regardless. When you have a shit season, they suck, it was turrible this year so I kept to the B-Town.

I live super close, and I love both resorts. I get a bird pass every season, it's.a blast! I love alta, but I ride with a lot if snowboarders so I usually go to snowbird. It's a great mountain and there's always something fun to ride!

I though he meant get the pass for both in the same day which they sell and do one day at/with both mountains, not one of each. What ever though, I explained that in my post. IWhat I was trying to say is having both mountains is more than you can handle really in one day, and you'll end up sticking to one. Just trying to help out.

If you like park skiing look into brighton, parkcity or canyons - snowbird and alta don't have parks so on a crappy day / season they're only fun if you like skiing big mtn and hucking cliffs into gnarly conditions or skiing groomers with a lot of people on them.

Everyone has their preference between Alta/Bird. My season pass two seasons ago when I first moved to Utah was to the 'Bird and it was the best winter of my life. I've been skiing there for years on vacations and now the 2 winters that I've lived here and I'm still discovering new lines/zones. Alta is a great time as well, but I feel like I'm traversing more to get to the goods there. The only thing about AltaBird is that when it snows, Little Cottonwood is an absolute shitshow trying to get up the canyon and they get tracked out FAST.

I'm actually leaning towards a Brighton pass this year. It doesn't have the acreage that AltaBird does, but the terrain is awesome, there's less traffic, and a decent park for days when the snow sucks and you wanna fuck around. You can't go wrong with any of the Utah resorts, really.

They're not park jumps though.  I was just saying that because a lotta nsers are into park skiing.
Alta / bird have awesome natural terrain.
